like the thread title says, i was drafted into this because i have a lot of audio equipment and such. my plan is to d-load a bunch of shit, save it as a playlist and hook up the iPod on shuffle to the setup. however i'm not well versed in "pop" and "hip-hop" music and need some suggestions for songs for dancing and such.

(it should also be noted that i work with about an 80% shwoogie populus.)

i only have until friday 11/30 to finish up the list

and no "the house next door to me's been sold to *******"

Get some input from your co-workers. Ask them to make a list of their top ten or twenty party or dance tunes. Compile your playlist according to popularity, you can't go wrong.

excellent suggestions so far fellas, but i DO have to see these people five days a week and i am particularly fond of my truck's windshield and paintjob.

as for the list, i've already tried that and was only able to get about 25 songs and by my estimate, i need closer to 90-100. here's what i got so far (some from the list, some by personal likings, and some as complete goofs.)

trace adkins- honkeytonk badonkadonk

50 cent vs bee gees- stayin alive in da club
m. jackso vs ray parker jr- bad ghostbusters
nelly vs lynyrd skynyrd- sweet home country grammar

also for mash-ups i have the jay-z/linkin park album and dj z-trip "uneasy listening" album (free d-load from his site)

If you think mashed up stuff will go over well, let me add:

50 cent vs. Joan Jett - In da club (w/I love rock n roll)

Usher vs. Queen - Yeah/Another one bites the dust

Ludacris vs. The Who - A Generation Stands Up

The first two are available here, http://www.crftp.com/featured_downloads.html

The third is available here: http://viprhealthcare.typepad.com/Mashuptown/A_Generation_Stands_up.mp3

This is a great mix by DJ Mei-Lwun: http://www.b00mb0x.org/wordpress/podpress_trac/web/494/0/HIPster-Hop.mp3 that you can probably cut up into individual songs.

mashuptown.com has a pretty huge and off the wall collection accumulated on it too.

If you haven't heard DJ Dangermouse's Grey Album (Jay-Z's Black Album & the Beatles' White Album) I highly recommend that one too. There are a few gems in there that will soothe the savages. Link:http://www.illegal-art.org/audio/grey.html

Edit: Or anything from Kurtis Blow....Linger LONGERRRR!

Spend 2 hours in the local watering hole on DJ night. You'll find out all you need to find out.

Spend 0.0005 hours in the local watering hole on DJ night. You'll find out all you need to find out.
fixed. that's about all i could take

when i do get the chance to go out, i tend to only go to places with live bands playing, rock, metal, blues, covers, etc. i don't think i could survive, in more ways than one, a night at the local elk's lodge with the "golfing community" or the clubs at the casinos that are blasting techno music for all the Charlie that have taken them over. the ones the VC or ninjas haven't gotten, the beaners, STILL working to replace shit Katrina destroyed, have moved in and forced the owners to be "bilingual establishments" because of threats of descrimination suits.

the only safe haven for people like me is local dives with a 100-person max occupancy, so all i could hear aside from live music is country or classic rock

now that my fucking dennis miller rant is over, i think i may have enough material now, just gotta put it all as a playlist and check the total time.
