Maybe it's time to rethink the role of dogs in police work if you can't even keep them from biting the good guys.

Yup. That's the nature of a dog and the Alpha-Male syndrome.
My dog will go after anybody that comes near me in an aggressive manner.

Given he was in the midst of a gunfight I can see that happening.
All the dog understands is protect the master at all costs.

They can't be reasoned with under those conditions.

In my opinion, they should have shot the gunman instead.

Anti gun agenda checklist: check check check check check. Good to go.
Oh, if only that paperwork had reached him on time, none of this would have happened.

I know having an excuse to search people and cars is important, but this is just getting to the point where it's inhumane to the dogs. They don't want to be out there biting black people who run from the cops.
