Hey Baggers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, I opened my email today and what do I see but my very first Cease and Desist from comcast regarding torrents (For the movie shooter, which was pretty good).

So now I am interested in finding out what programs are good to use to block my IP while using uTorrent.

Danka in advance,

They emailed you the C&D and not actually sent it to you thru regular mail? Was it Comcast telling you directly, or did the MPAA notify Comcast

Wow you must be getting a FUCKLOAD of movies to have been flagged by comcast. Timewarner just chokes my pipe when my bandwidth exceeds I think 950kbps. ( I wish my chick choked it that well.) I am on the peerguardian band wagon with the rest of them. Never had a problem aside from that.

I just use torrents for legit downloads. I use newsgroups to download movies, and software. None of those AA associations can monitor you downloading from a newsgroup.

No, I got an email from COX (my net provider) and was flagged over downloading ONE single 2 year old game. Large established torrents with a lot of seeders get marked for observation by the various software and recording associations. I've since learned to tolerate smaller more temporary torrents to avoid getting more letters.

The kicker was it was a game I already owned but couldn't find the disc to.

Anyway, you can switch to Azureus which is open source and has a lot of built in features including an IP mask. Unfortunately it isn't all that noob friendly.

Peer Guardian.

Easy to use, and you'll be amazed at how much crap it blocks.

Also, be wary of what sites and trackers you use. Some have been set-up or forced to become "honey-pots", for example T0rr3ntspy. Usuall the PBay is fairly safe, with PeerGuardian2.
