He's a funny guy on the show and his songs are hilarious but he doesn't do stand-up, then again he's had 2 specials on comedy central. Is he considered a really funny musician or an actual stand-up?

As a kid I remember (as much as I hate to admit it,) the Smothers Brothers doing basically the same thing. As did George Segal. All were comedians.

I consider him one. Not a stand up per say, but a comedian none the less.

Boy, I sound like a douche.

Can't he just be a comedian? Or is a comedian and a stand-up comedian the same thing?

Not that wikipedia is always correct, but this is what they say....
Stephen Andrew Lynch (born July 28, 1971 in Abington, Pennsylvania), is an American stand-up comedian, musician...

damn, thanks for making me post this.

My mother took me to see the Smothers Brothers when I was knee high to a grasshopper and yes, I actually enjoyed it.

As far as my thought on it... he is a singing comedian as he so says in Beelz

I always figured him as a singing comic or a comedic singer. Take your pick.

Tenacious D, Henry Phillips, Arrogant Worms, even way back to Spike Jones and Tom Leher. It's in the Comedy Music genre.

It doesn't matter, the news would just call him that cringe-inducing term "funnyman".

Full Blown Aids
Down to my target weight

Sarcoma popped out all over my face/
I lost three teeth and all of my friends/
Looks like this time I’m nearing the end/
Full blown aids/
No need to lie no reason to fib/
When you’re flat on your back counting all of your ribs/
I went to give blood they just showed me the door/
I stood up to leave then I fell on the floor/
Full blown aids/
Everybody now!

Damn that whore/

Damn that whore/

I said damn that whore

Aw yeah

Damn that whore

Let’s break it down now

My genitals can do a little spoken word/
A little poetry/
Cause I know you guys can appreciate some good poetry, right?/
Well the FBA has set in and he’s left feeling a little low/
Here you go, Mike/
Well, now I’ve got aids/
I don’t feel so good/
So I’m gonna go out and share it/
With my neighborhood/
Bartender, waitress, here’s your tip/
That ain’t acne above my lip/
Oh, ya have to leave?/
Ah, that’s ok/
I’ve got time to kill/
Maybe two or three days/
I’m sitting alone humming this song/
I start to think about everyone who done me wrong/
Who’s done ya wrong?/
My fifth grade teacher/
Yeah?/
Mr. Beck/
Your gonna find a hypodermic/
in your neck/
Patrons of my restaurant/
What about um?/
Your tit’s blue/
Yeah?/
Yeah/
Well that ain’t half and half in your stew/
And Wendy/
You remember me/
Wendy?/
She stood me up for prom/
But I won’t infect her/
You won’t infect her?/
I’m gonna infect her mom/
Her mom?!/
It’s full blown aids/
Damn that whore/
Ya little mother fucking whore/
Ya little mother fucking whore/

jerry lewis, johnny carson and george carlin have said a comedian is anyone who works in pursuit of laughs.

there's standup, improv, acting, writers, satirists, etc. obviously we think standup first, but lynch's musical act is intended for comedy, so he is clearly a comedian.

From Lynch's Email:

Lynch here...and I want to make my first shows at the House of Blues in Atlantic
City on July 12th as good as possible, so I've changed a few things...

First of which this is now an 18 and over show. It had been 21+, but I made
them change that. I figure if you're old enough to enlist in the Armed Forces
you should be allowed to buy a ticket to my show. Same with voting, driving,
etc. Except drinking of course (who makes these rules?!?).

I've also release all of the "Gold Circle" tickets that were being held for high
rollers. They ain't cheap ($62 each), but you're guaranteed to be in the first
few rows, which is where my fans with cash belong.

The best news is that all other tickets are $37 each, including those right
behind the alleged "Gold Circle." I've released a bunch of floor seats that
again, the HOB were holding for someone other than you.

You can get tickets at the box office and save the ticket surcharge, or at
Ticketmaster by clicking here: http://m1e.net/c?70119261-vTOT/NCBSn4P6%403433810-Zn/xGvCIklmR6

It's going to be a great show, like all my AC shows have been. I'll have new
songs, my pals Rod Cone and David Josefsberg and I hope you can make it. See
you there.

Not to be all Tom Technicality, but he never says he's a singing comedian. He says that Satan had a son who makes his living as a singing comedian. We assume it's reflexive and hystercal (cause he's insinuating that he, Stpehen Lynch, is infact the spawn of Satan.) but for all we know he could be speaking of Weird Al Yankovich, or 1994 Adam Sandler, or some other singing comedian :)
