I recently stumbled across one of the greatest awful shows currently polluting the airwaves.

Iyanla: Fix My Life is an American reality television series hosted by life coach and relationship expert Iyanla Vanzant on theOprah Winfrey Network.

Iyanla Vanzant is "an accomplished author, inspirational speaker, talk show host, and living testament to the value in life's valleys and the power of acting on faith. Iyanla has had a unique life filled with many personal struggles that she has overcome and used to become stronger."[2] OWN declares that the show features Iyanla "fixing lives and using her past to help others' futures. Secrets will be revealed, truths will be uncovered and emotions will come out as Iyanla teaches us how to pull back the curtain on what is broken in our lives."[
Iylnla is the tennis-ball-headed negress with the Sharpie eyebrows...

Iyanla is a sassy, take-no-guff gal. She's a wizened magical negro who possesses shaman-like abilities to heal the hurt in the lives of people she touches.

Basically... she goes and throws a bunch of psychobabble at disaster human beings and explains to them how elaborate, deep-rooted and psychologically mystical their problems are... then comes the healing.

It's fantastic bullshit. All of her "clients" have nothing more than your usual litany of self-inflicted Nperson problems... drugs, domestic abuse, bad parenting, self-indulgence, over-indulgence, irresponsibility, simple laziness, etc... but to Iyanla, they're all very complicated and unique snowflakes with elaborate and complex spiritual damage... the sort of bullshit that Oprah eats up with a spoon.

It takes an entire episode, and interminable and insufferable amounts of sassy psychobble for Iyanla to say... "Hey! Stop acting like a nigger, and behave yourself."

At the end of every episode, they all pretend like a miracle has occurred, and all of the hurts and ills were magically cured by Iyanla's voodoo negress mojo powers. And then they turn off the cameras, and they all go right back to their Nperson hijinxy ways.

Granted, I can only watch in short snippets... the sassiness and negrotude being too much for me to bear... but, with a heavy finger on the FF button, it makes for hilariously entertaining viewing.

This might be hard to sit through but I'd eat it up.
