July Hardware Figures Wii 425 k Nintendo DS 405 k PlayStation 2 222k PlayStation Portable 214k Xbox 360 170k PlayStation 3 159k Game Boy Advance 87k So uh.. about that price drop. Sales went up, obviously. But so did 360's, and somehow, even with a $100 price drop, PS3 was still not able to outsell 360 for a month. This is with July being a month of lots of "3 red rings" news stories, rumors about a 360 price drop in August, and no big game releases. This might just about do it for Sony this gen, honestly. This was their month to make a showing, but they couldn't do it with a price drop, proving it's not just the price, but it's a general lack of interest in the system. This month, with the 360 price drop, the negative press of the PS3 version of Madden (and apparently great sales of the 360 version), and Bioshock, along with Halo 3 next month and the upcoming holiday season... With no system sellers on PS3 this year, they're going to fall so far behind. And hell, now studios are leaving Blu-ray. Ouch. And oh yeah, Wii outsold DS for the first time. The friggin' DS. Even though it's still hard to find the damn thing, it outsold DS.
