Just found out that I'm probably out of a job at the end of March

Totally cool after 7+ years with the company and all.

"Good news, no bonus this year AND your SOW is up at the end of March. We're trying to find somewhere for you but you should get your resume ready."

If anyone knows or is someone in the Philly/South Jersey area looking for a pretty darn competent IT guy I would happily send you a resume. I've got 7 years experience consulting for the biggest cable provider in the US and have a fairly broad array of experience around cable/telephony systems.

Thanks

I'm in the South Jersey area. You have much more experience than me so you probably have a good chance at getting a call back. I have tried for over a year and not one person has responded to my resume. Cheers!

Well at least you've got that MMA career to fall back on.

Speaking of which... What the fuck, man? You never told us what happened with your pro debut. Did the fight fall through? Did you get KO'd? This has really been bothering me.

But anyway, that sucks. I was unemployed for over a year. Initially I was enjoying the time off, but after a while I got pretty depressed. Good luck.

Best of luck, man. At least you have a marketable skill. Could be a lot worse. You could be underemployed as a radio producer that wants to be a host.

I don't know if I'd call it a career....

Yeah, the fight fell through, I thought I posted about it on the thread but I might not have. As of right now, I'm looking at my first pro on March 2nd with XFE or failing that April (10th? 20th?) with Cage Fury....it'll be one or both of those for my next fights.

Thanks for asking though man. I'll try to make a thread in the MMA section once I have some details.

I wouldn't go on that shooting rampage just yet. With 7 years in IT on your resume, you'll find a job.

I'll check with the guys I know in the area. If you were in Allentown area, I could probably hook you up immediately.

Hope you don't mind working per deeum, because I don't even know what that means.

I was in the exact same situation as you are, 4 mths ago. A week later found the job of my dreams (of the 3 offers that week) with 50% more money, a massive office, work from home twice a week, and I work on whatever I want. Good jobs are out there, the economy is fine, don't let the naysaying Nancy's tell you otherwise. Good luck.

Uh....your places sounds nice. Any chance your company is hiring? Could you PM me a link to your website maybe so I can dig around and send in a resume if there are any postings?

I'm in the same boat as you except my company was nice enough to lay me off right before xmas. I wanted to start choking people but that wouldn't look good on a resume. I'm a data technician also (cabling/data center) The problem I found is no one wants to pay anything. I've been in the business for 12 years and I actually got a call to work for $12.50 an hour! I asked a guy if i got a dollar for every year of experience i had.

Lost my job 1/1/12 after 19 years. Got another job, but at 20K less pay and I have to pay over 15K in medical insurance. Not so NICE (name the French fucks changed the name to).

But.....When life gives you lemons.....

Already took a test for the LIRR and have an interview this week.

Good luck with the job interview, Dennis. We could use some good people on the Babylon line, train I take in the morning is either 5 minutes early and then pulls away BEFORE it's scheduled departure time, or is always late.

Went OK. It was hard. I knocked the general Supervisory questions out of the park, but had problem with the specific rail road questions.

Even if I aced it, a couple of tall hurdles to go.

We will see....

You're a bus company supervisor? Hey, if one of your drivers comes to you with an idea for a mystery appetizer... it's dog food. Be warned.
