I guess Kenny Allen was before my R&F time. All I've ever heard from him before yesterday was the famous line, "I'm the one who says things." I caught the tail end of a phone call from him during best of yesterday. What's the story behind this kid? Is it a character? If so, played by who? I find the kid hilarious and am constantly repeating his quote above.

This will either help you out, or confuse the shit out of you. Either way, you win.

Could. He could play along.

I honestly miss the weirdness of the NEW days, that show was straight off the rails bananas.

Good times, and it reminds me why I always placed this show above anything else on the radio. It's why I miss the show being on overnights/evening. That time always fit the zaniness of the show more than midday. The show is still weird, it's just a different type of weirdness.

Wow, this reminds me of a better time. the golden age of ron and fez was at WNEW. I still listen everyday but back then fez was actually involved and the callers were the best I ever heard. Miss kenny allen, foul mouthed elmo, iris, and joe poo just to name a few.

I've heard (read, really) that Kenny Allen was Ronnie B's son calling in to the show. Not sure how true it is, but I seem to remember reading that over at RF.net before.

Pretty much heard this too.

Oh, and may be the greatest first post in Wackbag history. Informative, and concise.

Lotta pressure to follow up for his 2nd post.

I thought Ron only had daughters? He's been very vague about it all, but he keeps mentioning him and the girls, sometimes him and the grills.

Ronnie B has a son? He did say he coached little league. That explains why Kenny is so funny, he has the genes.

I wish that crazy little nephew Ronnie talks about sometimes would start calling in.

I have no evidence and nothing to back me up but for some reason I always thought Ronnie had two girls and a boy. Maybe Im just crazy and I am probably totally wrong but it wouldnt be the first time I have been.

Boy, with my job you think I'd be used to pressure, but I have to say I'm ready to fail on this one. Especially having been a fan since 2000 and lurking for 4 years or so here at WB before making my first post.

But I think his son's name is Miles (another slightly educated guess). There even used to be a sound clip in the opening song (during the Kill Bill theme days) that was Ron saying "Oh, Miles" after a Kenny Allen clip.

Joe Poo was an intern, no? So I guess when his internship was out, he left.
I've never really listened to the old stuff, but this time last year I believe Joe Poo was nominated for caller of the decade.

Edit...maybe 2 years ago, if so, fuck time flies.

Being I have some OCD, I read a bunch on rf.net and found this:

on march 18, 2002, the boys were annoyed by al dukes going down to the waldorf to get interviews for the show, and with some failed stunt/bit billy did on the street ... as the show progressed, joe said or did something (might have been a lack of prep or motivation) that prevoked ron asking joe if he wanted an 'extended vacation,' and joe left the show mid-shift ... then joe would try to get back on the show as a caller under different names ...

I think he shit on al duke's paycheck. He'd only call in to annoy the show not really as a caller. "I like to eat my own poo" doesn't really add much. Guess I'm gonna download the march 18 2002 show at some point.

Ok...Joe Poo is mentioned as an afterthought. Ron is upset with Billy for not going to some kind of Rock An Roll hall of fame thingy. Joe's name is only mentioned together with Billy as two children who refuse to leave the house. Joe's voice is herd once when Ron asks billy if the voices in his head are only anti semitic or Jack Daniels, Poo throws in "Jim Beam". I didn't hear the above quote at all. I haven't listed to the whole show but the segment where Ron's pissed is at the beginning. I'll listen to whole show at some point. Maybe I'll just rewind it.

Ron sent Poo to answer the phones. He repeatedly asks if anyone thinks he's playing. He says he's gonna start sending people on extended vacations. Not sure if its directed at Poo, or if Poo left but they did not go straight into break after that.
