Alvarez:
The UFC announced today that Chris Leben has been suspended for one year for testing positive for Oxycodone and Oxymorphone in company drug testing taken on 11/5 after Leben's fight with Mark Munoz in Birmingham, England.
Leben said that he accepts the suspension and apologizes for it. This was Leben 's second UFC suspension, as he had tested positive also on a U.K. show, for steroids, from his 2008 loss to Michael Bisping in the same city.
This was not an athletic commission suspension as UFC does not have commission regulation in the U.K., so Marc Ratner, the former head of the Nevada Commision, who is the VP for Regulatory Affairs with the UFC, presides over non-commission shows. UFC tested all fighters on the show for recreational drugs.

That sucks. I like Leben. So are Oxycodone and Oxymorphone recreational drugs rather than performance enhancing?

It's nice to see the UFC takes drug testing seriously when they're not bound by an athletic commission.

Unless they weren't prescribed I don't see how someone should be suspended for painkillers. Now unless it was crazy amounts of them in his system or like I said he didn't have a script...... That sucks.

sucks because i like the guy as a fighter, he'll just claim he's addicted to the oxy's, hit rehab on the ufc dime and all will be well again in the future

Pain Killers can be considered a performance enhancer in a prize fight.

It is a lot easier to keep fighting the guy like an animal when you can't feel any pain from your broken hand/face/rib/foot/dick.

I feel bad for the guy because I have a brother who has had issues with Oxy addiction.

Fucking hillbilly heroin. It is disgusting stuff.

I try and convince as many people as I can to avoid the shit. I had a buddy in college who went from never touching a drug, trying weed to snorting OCs on a regular basis in like 2 months. Not fun to watch

What is really fucked are the people who get addicted from being prescribed it for minor pain and then getting completly fucking hooked.

My brother was at the point where if he had quit cold turkey his body would have said "fuck you" and stopped working.

His detox was scary as fuck.

Leben needs help. This is the 2nd time and if he continues down this road, being suspended from the UFC, will be the least of his worries.
