Looks like Lewis Black has a new show coming on Comedy Central. Not a complete "Hoo Hoo", but it does sound a lot like Tough Crowd

Lewis Black judges pop culture for Comedy

By Kimberly Nordyke 1 hour, 42 minutes ago

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Comedy Central has picked up a new pop-culture debate series starring Grammy-winning comedian Lewis Black.

The show, titled "The Root of All Evil," aims to put "pop culture on trial," the cable network said.

It features Black as moderator pitting two celebrities or pop culture topics -- such as Paris Hilton vs. Dick Cheney or YouTube vs. porn -- against each other in an open debate setting in which rotating comedians argue over which is more evil. Black will make the final decision.

"I am thrilled to become a part of popular culture by being the self-proclaimed decider of what is evil in our popular culture," Black said. "And by the end of the show's run, I will no doubt have to judge myself."

The actor-comedian -- who performs more than 200 nights a year in the U.S., Canada, Europe and New Zealand -- recently appeared in the films "Man of the Year," "Accepted" and "Unaccompanied Minors." He is working on a second book, expected next year, to follow 2005's "Nothing's Sacred." He won the comedy album Grammy this year for "The Carnegie Hall Performance."

There's already a tough crowd rip-off called Comics Unleashed I believe.

Either way, I think this is the show Comedy Central ultimately wanted from Tough Crowd, but didn't get. What they ended up getting was a bunch of comedian friends absolutely trashing each other while using the "let's talk about pop culture" as a vehicle.

That is why I loved Tough Crowd. There are enough TV shows bashing pop culture at this point. Nothing against Lewis Black, but we've already got the soup, best week ever, that david spade show, and i'm sure some other shows on E and VH1 do it, I just can't think of the names.

I miss Tough Crowd. Make the DVD already Comedy Central you cheap cunts.

I can't watch more than 1 minute of that show. I'm surprised O&A haven't talked about that piece of shit yet.

Yeah, i've never seen the show, just seen the promos for it. The first time I saw it I thought of good old washed up, fat Colin

I'm not even sure what channel it's on.

Yeah because Tough Crowd was about putting two topics against one another. Also, there is no reference in this description to having comedians on the panel. This sounds nothing like Tough Crowd.

QFT. At this point they should just rename Comedy Central, the Stewart and Friends Channel.
