From Rian Johnson, the guy who directed the genius "Fly" episode of Breaking Bad.

1st teaser footage from Joseph Gordon-Levitt's time-traveling Looper

What is Looper? It's director Rian Johnson and Joseph Gordon-Levitt's latest collaboration, which will have you scratching your head—for all the right reasons. It's a time-travel flick, filled with contract killers and Bruce Willis doing what he does best. Kicking ass! Here's a preview of the soon-to-be-released trailer for the film.

According to Gordon-Levitt, the premise of Looper is "What would you do if you had to hunt down and kill your future self?" His character is faced with this dilemma when a middle-aged version of himself appears in the form of Willis. Young Joe has to kill Older Joe. Sound intriguing?

Apple Trailers recently posted a Looper preview starring Johnson and Gordon-Levitt. The video shows plenty of footage, including a close-up of Gordon-Levitt's new "look." In the film, he wears a fake nose, chin and blue contacts to transform into a younger version of Willis.

Does it work? Can you see the resemblance?

The official trailer for Looper debuts online Thursday, April 12. Stay tuned!

He also did Brick and the underrated The Brothers Bloom. I've been looking forward to this movie since I first heard about it. He also has Shane Carruth (the guy behind Primer) assisting with effects.

I need to check both of those out. And I'm thrilled to hear about the Primer connection. I'd love for this to be another great cerebral time travel movie.

I gotta admit, I'm actually impressed with JGL, been since 3rd Rock. He's a good actor, simple as that. I'm interested in seeing this.

JGL's digital makeup job worries me. Sometimes it works exactly as it's supposed to, sometimes it does the other thing.

Ok so tomorrow is the friday wide and Im curious to who is going to see this. The trailer has been bugging me lately because of the "go back in time and confront yourself" aspect of the film and I cant shake it. No spoilers here because I havent seen the film but wouldnt knowing about ones future and then going back to deal with it just cause a redundancy or time loop that would send time itself into a mobius strip type repetition? I think Im going to see this tomorrow just to alleviate my curiosity so I dont ponder it longer than I should but also fuck the trailers for spoiling the main aspect of the movie.

I am definitely going to see it. If not this weekend, then this week. Maybe Monday. Who knows? I sure don't! But I really want to see it.

Actually, if you're referring to Looper, that's practical makeup, not digital. It was done by the same guy (whose name I can't think of) that did his makeup on G.I. Joe.

I wanted to go see it tonight, but my wife planned dinner for me with a group of her work friends. I wish future fandango would come back and shoot me.

I'm going tomorrow night with some friends. I talked them into it, so it better be as good as it apparently is.

Saw it again for a second time. And now I'm convinced:

Kid Blue is the younger version of Abe

This movie rules. Just really fucking good all the way around. Probably the best sci-fi movie I've seen since Moon, possibly even better than Moon. Immensely interesting premise, some brutal action sequences, humor mixed in through the whole thing, and a couple rather creepy/frightening parts. I never knew what was going to happen next. This is a must-see. It's so great to see an original concept executed so well.

If I had to have a criticism, it would be that JGL's Bruce Willis impression was a little distracting in one scene. If he had done that through the whole movie, it could have been obnoxious. Really though, it was impressive that he was able to totally nail a few of BW's mannerisms.

I was thinking that might be the case. The thing that gives me pause though is that when Blue shows up at the hideout with Old Joe, Abe seems genuinely surprised to see them. When Old Joe is explaining his memories to Young Joe, he says that a lot of things are fuzzy right up until Young Joe does them, then he remembers the details clearly. So wouldn't Abe have known Old Joe was captured as soon as it happened?

Also, if that kid doesn't get a best supporting actor nod, there is no justice in this world. Best kid actor I've seen in ages.

late to the party but I just watched this and...

Why didn't JGL just shoot off his trigger finger or thumb...and then Bruce Willis would have dropped the gun..Or he could have gouged his own eyes out..He didn't have to kill himself, although from the moment they started working together I knew he would end up offing himslef to prevent future self from doing something that makes the kid the future asshole...
Also I def think that Kid Blue was young Jeff Daniels. I think the "you'll shoot off your other foot" comment was a hint, the way he said it and the later comment that old bruce willis got to the gun...Good movie though! That kid was goddamn freaky!

Kid Blue couldn't have been a young Abe, because Abe smashed his hand with the hammer and didn't immediately have a crippled hand in the future. Also, in the deleted scenes, Abe orders Kid Blue to be killed.

Finally saw it. All the discussion on a Superman movie and only two pages on Looper? I enjoyed it but there was a pretty big plot hole.
