According to the Latino Review, the "Untitled Marvel movie" scheduled for May 16, 2014 will NOT be Ant Man, will NOT be Incredible Hulk 2(3), and will NOT be Avengers 2, but Guardians of the Galaxy.

    http://latino-review.com/2012/06/28/exclusive-marvels-2014-movie-revealed/

    My guess on the lineup:
    Adam Warlock
    Drax the Destroyer
    Quasar
    Martyr
    Moondragon

The article speculates that Nova will also be brought in, and I'll add my guess that Captain Marvel will also be included.

Even though I predicted this would happen, this is a HUGE gamble on Marvel's part, as the budget will have to be well north of $200 million. I'm sure it will be closely tied in to the Avengers series, and the events of this will no doubt lead directly into Avengers 2, but even still - I just don't know if there's an audience big enough to justify it. Should be interesting.

Yeah. Guardians of the Galaxy seems like an odd choice.

Space-based super hero movies haven't had a good track record.

I suppose Iron Man was a similar risk when they did that, and it's likely this will do better than Disney's other recent $200 million dollar gambles (John Carter and The Lone Tonto) almost by default. I'm sure Disney was pressuring them to skip this and go right to Avengers 2, so you've got to hand it to Marvel for sticking to their guns.

I don't know how I feel about this. This is a very odd choice for a film.

Yeah this seems to me be huge gamble on Disney/Marvel's part. While I recognize some of the names that would make up the roster of GOTG, the same can't be said for the average movie goer. They're putting a lot a faith in thinking that people are just going to come out because its a comic book movie set in space.

As a casual comic fan, I knew who Iron Man, Thor and Captain America were. I don't know shit about any of these suspected characters.

non mainstream title can be dicey, they can be iron man (let's be honest, iron man wasn't exactly spiderman or x-men) or they can be jonah hex...oof.at one time DC had the doom patrol greenlit, not sure what think about that.i think marvel is planning doctor strange too.

i liked daredevil but it came out when it was still cool to hate ben affleck because he committed the great offense of dating jennifer lopez.as crazy as it sounds marvel is kinda running out of manistream heroes, they've did

    spiderman
    x-men
    captain america
    the avengers
    iron man
    thor
    fantastic four/kinda silver surfer
    the hulk
    the punisher
    daredevil
    ghost rider

    who the fuck's left,namor?

the faggots at DC need to realize that they own other properties besides superman and (overrated) batman.they ruined green latern with ryan "romcom" reynolds.i know when i think test pilot turned super hero i think the guy from two guys,a girl, and a pizza place

I'd rather see them do a movie version of the old Secret Wars series.

Iron Man is more popular than Guardians of the Galaxy. I've seen that argument made before too, that Iron Man wasn't well known to the public therefore one shouldn't complain about the lack of public awareness of GotG, but there are middle grounds between known by all and obscure to practically all.

No. That wasn't the problem with Daredevil.

Right. Because that's the only thing he's done in his career. Not like he was Deadpool or anything.

Though I've complained about the lack of forward momentum on DC live action properties before.

I've never seen XMOW, but I've heard that Ryan Reynolds was a pretty shitty Deadpool. Was it Reynolds, or the way they handled him in the movie that made him shitty?

DC should have more going than just Superman and Batman, but I still think this has a lot to do with WB only wanting to make 1 Superhero movie per year, while many studios handle the Marvel movies, so it seems like they're more prolific. Marvel Studios just started doing two movies per year last year, and only did one this year.

If you can guess that Avengers 2 will be in 2015, and Avengers 3 will be in 2018, the smart thing for WB to do if they want to stick with the one movie per year format would be to pencil in JL for 2017, then work backwards from there:

    2013 - Man of Steel
    2014 - Wonder Woman
    2015 - Aquaman
    2016 - Batman Re-Begins
    2017 - Justice League

If they can work up the balls to move up to 2 per year:

    2013 - Man of Steel/Green Arrow
    2014 - Wonder Woman/Green Lantern 2
    2015 - Aquaman/Man of Steel 2
    2016 - Flash/Batman Re-Begins
    2017 - Justice League

After Batman and Superman, there are no other DC characters that are well known enough to have a movie made about them.

As to why Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool was shitty, it was a little bit of both.

They need to do a new Green Lantern movie in the way they did Iron Man, actually spend the time and money to do it right. The Green Lantern movie was complete dogshit.

A stand alone Deadpool movie would be awesome if again, they invested the time and money into doing it right. And keep Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson

I think if people gave John Carter a chance they will really like it. I shit all over the movie when it was promoted in theatres. I watched it recently on blu ray and absolutely loved it.

As for the Lone Ranger movie, I just despise Johnny Depp in some of his roles so I don't know how it is going to be.

    A) Really liking it on DVD does not make it not a bomb
    B) I think "really like" is a bit too strong for John Carter.

They need to do a new Green Lantern movie, then a Wonder Woman, Flash movie and then with Man of Steel and Dark Knight Rises we will be good to go with a Justice League Movie. And if they do a Justice League Movie there has to be the Legion of Doom. DC has to take after how Marvel built their series. Marvel did it right.

I don't agree with this at all, and I'm a Marvel Fan Boy. Green Lantern, Flash, Aquaman, Wonder Woman, and Nightwing's solo books all outsell the solo books of the Avengers:

I never said it was a bomb. I was just going along with news articles about it.

    http://news.yahoo.com/disney-studio-chief-quits-john-carter-bomb-180753695--finance.html

Maybe it was because I had pretty low expectations for the film. I liked it enough to go buy it on Blu Ray after renting it on Itunes.

Check out the sales figures for the book. Somebody's interested. I think most people have forgotten Entourage by now. Where I was crazy was suggesting a Green Arrow movie.

The only problem with that is Nolan's version of Batman might not fit with what the director of a Justice League Movie wants. They would have to make the individual character's movies similar to what Nolan did with The Dark Knight trilogy for it to work.

That's why I keep saying that a Justice League movie shouldn't even be made. There are just going to be too many headaches in getting it to the big screen.
