I dont like Tom Cruise because he is a batshit crazy lunatic, but I have to give him credit for being batshit crazy enough to do his own stunts. The scenes on the Burj Khalifa is enough for me to drop $10 to see the flick.
Brad Bird rocks. Jeremy Renner is bad ass. Simon Pegg will have a bigger role which is awesome. Sawyer from Lost is gonna be in it too. That said I'm rally looking forward to this. Each movie has been better than it's predecessor in this series.
Saw it last night. A fun, well shot action movie. Like most action movies on their 4th go-around, the main character has essentially turned in to a super hero taking beatings and poundings in 3 days that no man would withstand. Same thing happened to John McClaine. Other than that, it was awesome and god damn Tom Cruise has some balls doing those stunts on Burj Khalfia.

I loved the movie. I plan to go back and watch the first 3 sometime soon, but I'm not sure I agree with the Superhero thing. Of course they take beatings and poundings that no man could withstand, but in this series I don't think the amount or level of beatings and poundings increased over the 4 movies. Again, I haven't watched the first 3 in a while, but this stands out as more unrealistically Superhero-y than anything in the most recent movie:
At least in this movie he ended up the hospital - twice. I can't really speak to Die Hard because I completely lost interest after the 2nd movie.
I was thinking the same thing during the movie - specifically when they revealed the professor was disguised as the younger dude during the long foot chase. I was like "How the fuck can Tom Cruise not catch that old fat guy in a foot race?" It bugged me so much that when I got home I looked it up and realized Michael Nyqvist is only 2 years older than Tom Cruise.
Also, Hunt had just spent 6 months in jail, so he may not have been in that great of shape. They actually made the point that his skill level was not the same as Renner's character's. I'm thinking through all his other fights, and it seems to me like all the other asses he kicked were when he had the element of surprise.
I just realized I'm kind of putting some spoilers in here. Ah, fuck it - the movies been out for a month now.
