i searched and found nothing on this but again i suck at searching so merge if need be.. tonight at 9/8 central

the description given on the site doesnt make it sound as interesting as the commercials. you win money based on telling the truth but they ask you some shit like..

do you really care about the starving children in africa?
do fat people repulse you?
if you could cheat on your spouse and not get caught would you?
would you donate a kidney to save your fathers life?

THE MOMENT OF TRUTH will put participants to the test -- the lie detector test -- to reveal whether or not they are telling the truth for a chance to win half a million dollars. The challenge is simple: answer 21 increasingly personal questions honestly, as determined by a polygraph, and win up to $500,000. This is the only game show where participants know both the questions and the answers before they begin to play. What deep dark secret will someone divulge for hundreds of thousands of dollars?

Not even slightly.

do fat people repulse you?
Fat people repulse everybody.

if you could cheat on your spouse and not get caught would you?
Depends... how fine is the tail we're talking about here?

would you donate a kidney to save your fathers life?
More like a liver the way that old sot puts them away... and hells ya I would. I'd give that man my heart if he needed it... but not my tallywacker though... I'm mighty fond of that.

This would be a great premise... if lie detectors weren't a pile of pseudo-scientific bullshit.

Do they give them a lie detector test BEFORE they go up on stage? I ask because I missed the beginning and I notice they're not strapped to anything in that chair.

Ever wonder if the lie detector tests are altered....you have the first person on the show and you want them to fail so you change a answer

yes they do, but they still make the wait for the answer agonizingly long

Don't know if I can stick with this one. Not a bad premise but they
really go overboard on the dramatics waiting for answers.
I'm getting bored with it already.

Pretty boring and stupid.
this fucking show rules
I'm torn. I really like the premise, and I'd love to see lives getting ruined, but the 18 second dramatic pauses are ridiculous and a lot of the questions are really "who gives a shit" type ones.

Yes. They have to tell "the truth" and not just match what they said on their lie detector

Also, the audience's moral indignation pisses me off. They all kind of went "ooooh" on the 1st question about cancelling an appointment, but no one gave a shit about his "promiscuity"

Like most Fox shows, this one's going to give you maybe one or two great moments per episode. 'Have you not had kids because you don't think you're going to spend the rest of your life with your wife?' was definitely the best cringe moment.

What is going to piss me off is shit like the one that got the first guy kicked off. The question was 'Have you ever touched a female client more than was necessary?' That implies that he touched them in a sexual way, so he answered no, but if you are a personal trainer, any contact could be perceived by someone as 'more than necessary'.

I'd love to sign the release forms the contestants have to sign before they get on the show.

this show had me hyped on the news items that preceded it.

this was originally a game show in Columbia. it got taken off the air after some lady won $25k by answering the following question in the positive:

"Have you ever tried to kill your husband?"

she said yes. upon further investigation, she had previously hired a hitman to kill her hubby but said hitman ratted her out to the hubby and he ran like hell.

i had high hopes for this show but, as many have pointed out, it's just too much fake dramatics. i mean, i wanted to deck that trainer for ruining it with the first segment. "have you ever used the internet to flirt with other women?" dramatic pause.......... nervous smirk.................. no. all that time for no uncomfortable payoff.

my cringe crave was sorely unfulfilled last night.

If you give all these answers ahead of time, why would you change when your on the show? I punched out after the first guy but why lie about the personal training one when you already dug yourself a grave with your wife with the previous answer? You're on the show, why lie now? Game show wise its up there with Deal or No Deal as beyond pointless.
Also how do they know the lie detector didnt fuck up?

There's nothing wrong with changing their answers, they have to answer them truthfully according to the polygraph, not to their original answers.

They don't
