That might work; a couple of the story arcs from the original run seemed like they were stretching the story a bit to cover the 24 hours. I guess they like Keifer enough to forgive the failure of Touch.

Done deal. Confirmed.

Jack Bauer is coming back.
Fox executives said Monday that its drama "24" is returning next May for a limited run that will stretch into the summer. The adventure series with Kiefer Sutherland starring as Jack Bauer ended its original run in 2010.
Fox programming chief Kevin Reilly said creators had been thinking about doing a movie with the original cast. But when Fox announced it was interested in doing a big event miniseries, they realized it was the perfect format.

“They always had this idea of maybe someday doing a feature film,” he said. “I think they all agreed 24 being compressed into two hours is not 24.”

A couple? Every single season of that show must have been put through a taffy pull. It always got confusing/retardedly convoluted by the middle of every season.

Put it on FX so they can go a bit more hardcore with it. It will fit their cycle better too.

I think Touch was a bad idea from the start. It was too soon after 24 was over and it was on the same network. The world just wasn't ready yet to see Jack Bauer being a pussy.

Considering what the Following got away with when it comes to violence in that time slot, I think 24 will be fine there.

I'm pretty psyched to hear that 24 is returning to television. I think the Following made me me realize how much I missed that show. Although I think its disheartening that there won't be 24 movie. Yet the Entourage one is supposedly a go.

Did you ever watch the show? You could have stopped at "bad idea from the start". That show was complete dogshit and was so fucking stupid Im surprised it lasted as long as it did.

No. Going by the description, I knew it was going to be a show that I had no interesting in watching.

Glad this is happening. I'll take another 12 hours of 24 over a 2 hour movie. I was never really satisfied with the way the last season ended. It was essentially the same ending as a previous season where Jack is a fugitive from the government and the last shot is of him walking away, presumably to go into hiding.

Question: on the 24 timeline, wasn't the last season taking place in 2013 or 2014? If so, real world time would have caught up, so theoretically, the new 24 could take place like days after the series ended.

Not quite. According to the official timeline, season 8 would've ended sometime in early 2016.

Hopefully by having only 12 hours, they will eliminate the pointless C and D stories that bogged down every season.

So...I never watched 24 while it was on TV. I started watching a little over a week ago and I am on Season 3. I really enjoy the show and wanted to watch it before it comes back on. I liked the first season, really liked the second season but the third season fucking sucks. I can't seem to get into it at all. I've heard that the rest of the series is pretty much the same with the seasons (one being good and others being weak.)

Hang in there. The second half of season 3 is some great television drama.

Chloe is there for the long haul. So I would deconstruct her as comedic relief. Mary Lynn Rajskub said she played the character Chloe as not getting it.

Edgar arrives next season. :D

Seasons 4 through 6 are very connected.

Season 5 is the best overall.

Season 7 is like a reboot.

I have read 24 news stories that states people who do this for real can do similar things in longer time frames.

up to Season 8, about 7 episodes through and ugh is this dragging ass.

How many times can Jack do the shit he does? (double crosses and turn around later to just say I'm kidding I was doing it because I knew it was gonna turn out this way, or this was the only way to find out the truth.) I still hate Chloe.
