Need a reasonably priced (read: cheap) Android smartphone for use on T-Mobile.

My daughter's phone took a dump and she needs to replace it. She's under contract with T-Mobile so I need to find a phone (cheap) that will work with T-Mobile. I've always had Verizon so I know little about the GSM phone world. I understand that I can get an unlocked phone from another GSM carrier, put the T-Mobile SIM into it and it'll work.

I just want to get this done inexpensively and easily, but not get something that's a piece or shit. Want something with 3G and wifi. Can't think of anything else significant.

    Thanks in advance for suggestions/recommendations.

If you want 3G, don't get a phone tied to AT&T. The phone will work but you will be stuck with EDGE speeds.

You could probably get a used MyTouch 4G or Galaxy S2 for about $200. They're better than the Exhibit, but they'd be used. You can just go to Wal Mart, buy the exhibit and pop the SIM card in.

This. Make sure it's compatible with T-mobile.

How old is the kid? If she's a typical teenager and needs a physical keyboard for texting the Samsung Gravity Smart can be had for less than $150. The Samsung Dart is even cheaper and is just a "beginner" Android phone. Just stay away from Huawais and other off brand Chinese ones. I'd probably go with the Exhibit Don mentioned, but not if the kid is really young because it would be a waste.

Know what's not compatible with T-Mobile? Fucking phone calls. Can't wait for this contract to end. Wife makes NO more decisions.

Thanks for the replies. She's in college, so I think that I'll check out that Exhibit.

Tons of cheap phones on Craigslist. I'd start looking there.

T-Mobile tends to appeal to a certain segment of the population who can be impulsive with selling of items for quick money. You might get lucky. Just make sure he doesn't rob you and steal it right back.

I'm poking around. Unless I find some kind of sweetheart deal on a used MyTouch 4G, I'll be grabbing that Exhibit most likely.
