I can't play regular DVD's on my computer, just DVD-Rs. Apparently I need a codec update download. I can't find a good link and the ones I tried from Microsoft won't work on my OS. Anyone know anything? Thanks.

Download VLC player, it plays pretty much anything without having to mess with codecs.

I did that earlier. I kept getting an error message in VLC that it wouldn't work. I'm pretty sure that's because I don't have the codec for WMP that will recognise DVD's to start with. Like I said, DVD-R's play fine but regular DVDs don't work at all. I've tried a bunch of them.

Download k-lite Mega codec pack or CCCP(Combined Community Codec Pack)

Yes, this one. Comes with media player classic as well, easy playback even on the browse.

There's no "codec" for copy protected DVDs. WMP should play them, though. If it's not, rip them to your hard drive first with one of 8 billion options, or install AnyDVD to decrypt them on the fly.
