a Mac Mini would be just fine but i have not kept up with the current specs they really need a mid priced tower just feeding the hackintosh market by not having one
The only decently priced Mac product I've seen and would ever buy would be an Apple TV ... then I'd Hack it and put XBMC on it. I wonder if it would make a decent alternative to a Mac Mini. I'm not sure if you could put the full IOS desktop on it, maybe the Ipad.
My chick just dropped a bunch of cash at Best Buy... she got a new 13" Mac Air and a 64 GB Ipad... she finds the Mac Air "lighter" then the Ipad...
the apple TV isn't powerful enough to run OS X. I have one, the ATV2, and have XBMC on it but it crashes often. not sure if the ATV3 is any more powerful. actually it is since it runs 1080p and mine is only 720p. the mac mini is a good unit if all you need is a box and don't want any expansion and will run XBMC really nice but that would be quite a bit of money just for a tv box
she should have waited they are going to announce updated ipads tomorrow and the new mini ipad think they will bump up speed and maybe memory on ipads
I like that they're updating the regular iPad already. The new iMacs look nice but I'm unsure whether it would be a better investment to try to migrate to Adobe Lightroom on Win 7 instead.
An Apple fanboy friend of mine just HAS to have the new iPad Mini so I'm getting his one month old Nexus Tablet for $150. Win-win.
I'll definitely be interested in what you think of it. I'm considering buying a $400 tablet (Asus Transformer tf300) but not sure if I'll be just as happy with a cheaper tablet like the Nexus.
That is what is stopping me... as I have that Adobe designer suite thing... really don't want to rebuy it.
Jealous. Though I just installed Jelly Bean on my Kindle so that should keep me satisfied from a tablet prospective for a while.
i have the 16gb i got for $300 with a friends employee discount and some other offer and i think its a sweet ass lil machine. the only issue i have with it is the headphone volume wasnt high enough when i was watching movies while riding in the work truck while the other guys were listening to espen for 8 hours, but on a 2 hour flight it was just fine.
Cool, good to know. I went and messed around with that Asus at Sears yesterday and really like it, but $400 is a little steep. I think I'm going to wait until around Thanksgiving and see what kind of deals pop up for both that one and the Nexus tablets.
i almost went nexus but at the last minute i decided i didnt like the specs and figured i would wait a while and see what they come up with down the line, i never get the first one in the line up since thats where they cut their chops, plus i do like having cameras on my toys.
Can't wait to see what Google has coming out next week. The rumored Nexus 10 looks like it's going to be pretty sweet.
Did you get the keyboard dock also? I've been following the Transformer line for a while, really like the 300.
no ive read a few things about fuckin flames and smoke. my girl was gonna get it for me for xmas but i told her id rather have a 64 gb microSD.
