The form factor is absolutely retarded. Then again, Apple hasnt been very upgrade friendly in forever so I shouldnt be surprised.

And will cost $3500. I'm guessing. Overpriced bullshit.

Yup. That did really well for Apple. And at least this one was a form factor that made sense in modern computing! This new abomination is frigging ROUND, fercrissake. How the hell do ya put a motherboard in a round case?!?

the Apple Cube did well

it paved the way for the Mini and the imac

they still go for large bucks on the used market

I had two of them at one point. They're fun little machines, but they weren't a huge success. But then again neither is the Mac Pro. It's a loss leader.

Apple was not selling a lot of anything when the cube came out

it was popular for what it was and showed people wanted a smaller compact machine

the Mac Pro is targeted at high end users who want a very powerful machine and will help sell copies of Final Cut Pro

And the people who buy them don't do their own upgrades anyway, plus most of them are artistic types. It will do just as well as the old metal case version. And it really is a fucking monster of a machine.

My Mac Pro sits on the floor humming away at my left leg. This new one would be sweet sitting on my desktop. And I like the new iOS. Android cranked up the heat in the looks dept, apple had to do something.

No expansion other than external via expensive proprietary cables that nobody else supports. People who have been waiting for last few years to upgrade their aging work stations are going to run right out and buy these things. I guess Apple is saying goodbye to their workstation customers and gearing everything towards the consumer market.

Just based on the pro grade parts in this it really looks geared toward professionals.
