God, they just want so badly to mimic Kill em All. I don't blame them of course, but I think a lot of their stuff comes off as mediocre because they're constantly looking back instead of forward.

Fuck Metallica and fuck their gold swimming pools.

I wish they were all looking forward when their bus crashed.

Im going to go out on a limb here and say the new record sounds just like Death Magnetic side 2. I guess at the end of the day its probably for the best, stick to what they know and out of Stanger territory.

And I guess that'd be 'fine.' Been a bad few decades for Metallica, it'd be nice to see them come up with something worth listening to.
Sigh.

I really liked it. Yea, the lyrics are a little cheesy, but it's nice to see them getting back to the heavy stuff again. The new Album is out in November.

I dug it.
Never heard Death Magnetic, so it's nice to hear something that isn't "hard rock".
Plus, Trujillo is fantastic.

This has nothing on the last Megadeth. Or Overkill, for that matter.

I've been off the Metallica bandwagon for almost 20 years (maaaaannnn), but this might bring me back. At least the video isn't full of them on swings or some stupid conceptual shit.

True. But it's clear that by 'St Anger' Bob Rock had gone from busting their balls relentlessly to get the 'Black' album out of them, to just being another employee of the band.

The Bob Rock of old would never have let James' off-key vocals or Lars' horrendous paint can snare on that record. He'd gotten too close to them personally and had just become another yes man who told them their farts were delightful and everything thing they did was great.

Good qualification, I had it in my head that St Anger was the one produced by Rick Rubin

Dr Feelgood / Black Album era Bob Rock is best Bob Rock

I would put the last Anthrax and Death Angel over this. But I agree with you about Overkill. Who supposedly also have a new album coming out later this year. The same goes for Testament.

Correction. Motley Crue/Black Album era Bob Rock is best Bob Rock.

While the new song sounds alright, I'm may have to wait to hear a little more before I decide if I will buy this album when it comes out. Its supposed to be 12 songs spread over two discs. Who do Metallica think they're?, Iron Maiden.

5 Am I Savage?
6 Halo on Fire

Disc Two

4 Here Comes Revenge
5 Murder One
6 Spit Out the Bone
