NEW PRAGUE, Minn. -- A Minnesota middle school secretary says all students and staff are safe in a lockdown at the school.

New Prague Middle School executive assistant Lana Knoke tells The Associated Press that the lockdown that began Wednesday morning continues. She says police are still checking the school.

Knoke says students remain in locked classrooms.

New Prague is about 45 miles southwest of Minneapolis. The middle school has about 875 students in grades 6-8.

So from the little information I have read... nobody is hurt or shot, and the only information they have about a shooting is an anonymous phone call?

Yep false alarm...

NEW PRAGUE, Minn. — A 911 call in which a caller claimed several people had been gunned down at a school in southern Minnesota was likely a hoax, a county sheriff said Wednesday.

The call early Wednesday prompted authorities to lock down the middle school, high school and Central Education Campus buildings in New Prague, 45 miles southwest of Minneapolis. Scott County Sheriff Kevin Studnicka said all students and staff are safe.

Officers have started to clear the schools' buildings, Studnicka said.

The sheriff said dispatchers took a 911 call from a male caller about 8 a.m. who said he was inside one of the school buildings.

"He claimed he needed help because there was a shooter in the building with an AK-47 and that there were a couple of victims," Studnicka said. When dispatchers asked for the caller's cellphone number, he claimed it was a new phone and he didn't know the number, the sheriff said.

Emergency vehicles from several police departments converged on the middle school, a red brick building on the north side of New Prague, about 45 miles southwest of Minneapolis. Parents were directed to a church. Scott County Sheriff's Sgt. John Kvasnick said students were to be sent home at 10:30 a.m.

Studnicka said there was no evidence of a shooting or of a person with a gun. Kvasnick confirmed that no one was hurt and nothing was found in a search of the middle school.

The middle and high schools have a combined enrollment of 2,067.

Somebody upset that the assault ban didn't pass, and wanted to give the people a scare. What a douche. I hope they catch him and throw the book at him.

Most likely a student with a test that day that he didn't study for and was looking for a way to get out of it.

And, as if right on cue, this just in, a few min ago from a middle school in Minnesota-reports of a shooting http://cbsloc.al/15qpQwQ Pray.
I'm pretty sure by pray he meant to pray for a massacre on a massive scale by assault weapon wielding maniacs so he can further his agenda.

12-Year-Old Student In Custody After New Prague ‘Hoax’ Shooting

A student was taken into custody Wednesday after a call was made to police reporting a shooting at New Prague Middle School.

Authorities said during a press conference they received a call around 7:55 a.m. regarding a school shooting in the building. Several units responded, including local departments, the State Patrol and ambulance crews.

The building was placed under a “code red” lockdown while police responded to the scene.

“When the police came in, they were holding a gun and somebody said, ‘don’t worry, it’s just the cops,’” one student said. “It freaked us all out.”

After an investigation and search of the building, police determined that no shooting occurred. All students were deemed safe and no threat was determined. Police also searched the neighboring Central Education building but found nothing.

A 12-year-old male student was taken into custody, and according to police, was the only student involved. They are not looking for any other suspects. Police say the student prank called authorities twice, saying that two people had been injured.

“The investigation leads us to believe that student was the only student involved,” said New Prague Police Chief Mark Vosejpka. “The investigation is still active but again, we have every reason to believe through the investigation that this student was making a prank, a hoax.”

The police chief said the student called in the prank using a deactivated cell phone, which was only capable of making 911 calls. At this time, they do not know what the student’s motivation was for the prank calls.

Students in the district were released around 11 a.m. and sent home for the day. Superintendent of New Prague Schools, Larry Kauzlarich, said the decision was made to send all students home, due to the stress and anxiety of the situation.

Kauzlarich said bus drivers were instructed to make sure students had someone at home when they were dropped off — and if no one was present, those students should be brought back to school.

He said the elementary school wasn’t in session when the incident occurred but the decision was made to turn the school buses around and return students to their homes.

Kauzlarich said counselors will be available for students and parents, if needed.

The school canceled classes for the rest of the day but students are expected to return Thursday.

We had one student, toss a military smoke grenade (green) into the cafeteria before school. The fire department came and vented the building. Within an hour and a half we were back in classes.

The perp was walked out in cuffs in front of the whole school. A teacher saw him toss it in from the 'smokers patio'. A long time ago...
