Dear Wackbag,

When did the Opie and Anthony show become the neverending commercial for pushing Cloverfield? I havent seen them back anything on this scale since they sold out the garden for ol Andrew.

It really is annoying.....It's not like it's a great movie or anything, it's not deep or complex, it's just a monster movie. I do realize that they did 25+ hours of radio this week (some of it being classic radio gold) and they only spent like 3 or 4 on the movie, but that's still a prety long time to talk about a movie that's as simple as "Monster in NY, people are scared, shaky camera".

omg....are we serious here?.....

The movie made huge money, and OnA were able to snatch up the first interviews with the cast, have JJ Abrams call in, and they all pretty much enjoyed the movie.

When you give something exposure, most times you get it in return. A ton of the Cloverfield fan sites have links to the interview videos on FoundryMusic.com. Being that a LOT of people saw the movie and followed those sites for almost a year now, they tend to keep up with things like this. They click the links, and boom, the show gets more exposure. After all, isn't that what the FM show is all about?

That, and seeing how XM advertised for the movie, I'm sure they were told to throw in some plugs here and there. I don't mind it in the least bit.

Yea I got sick of hearing about the fucking movie already too.

I'm never going to see it.

But the guy that stopped in twice was pretty cool and we all know they did it to try to get some heat on the show connected to a huge movie so whatever.

A radio show promoting a movie, UNHEARD OF!

The guy from the show was a good guest, I don't mind the shilling.

I personally don't care what they do on their radio show, since most of the time its entertaining to listen to. I may never see Cloverfield, but this past week or two has produced some good, funny radio, and that's all I care about.

I think that they kept talking about it because somebody with two radio shows was scheduled to call in on Thursday (then Friday), but a certain dark-skinned administrative staffer canceled it for reasons unknown.

If it really bothered you to listen to the "neverending commercial", then why didn't you turn the dial when they said "Next up, we have JJ Abrahms the producer of CLOVERFIELD is calling in" or "TJ Miller from CLOVERFIELD is stopping by today"?

What happened here, folks, is that our b-b-boys finally got themselves a bonafide coup. The entire cast and producer of the flick, all hanging almost exclusively with O&A? That's fucking huge. I can't believe anyone is whining about that. That means the boys get some serious clout that they very sorely need right about now.

TJ Miller sounded kinda faggy.

Sorry for the hurtfulness, but the dude seems pretty fruity.

So they get some good guests in for the week's top grossing
movie and that's a bad thing? You really might just consider changing
the channel. The show was fine this week.

The kid from the movie is a comic of sorts and has some good comedic timing. I think he was an ok compliment to the show. What's the problem?

So fucking what? Theyre promoting a movie they actually fucking liked. Big fucking deal. I hope everyone and their mom goes out and sees Cloverfield
10 times now, so it can be the highest grossing movie ever, and you can shut your mouth.

Although I am not a fan of most live interviews, I really enjoyed when O&A had the cast from Cloverfield in.

I also liked their talk with Finger 11 and the songs they performed. This past week was one of the best as far as great radio is concerned.

Absolutely correct. I am certain since the Great Train Robbery was released in theaters in 1896, millions of people have filmed their own shaky cam horseshit in practically every genre of film, and of all ages. It is unique in that this one of the first films to really use shaky cam throughout effectively and really create a geniune mood using the style (though the Bourne films used it effectively in the few scenes there).
