If elected, Egan will return LGBTQ representation to the Seattle City Council
Egan is a fourth generation Seattle resident with a long track record of stepping up, solving problems, and fighting for the things that make the city a great place to live. When Pride Festival was kicked out of the Seattle Center in 2007, Egan stepped up at the last minute and organized a PrideFest celebration worthy of Seattle’s LGBTQ community. After PrideFest Capitol Hill was at threat of shutting down because the city pulled their festival permits, Egan salvaged and reinvented the event in a matter of 11 days.
Since then he’s grown both events to an annual attendance of over 200,000 and has built a massive social media network to advocate for queer and trans communities every day of the year. He was a tireless advocate and fundraiser for Washington’s same-sex marriage referendum and rallied at the Supreme Court for the expansion of marriage laws to include same-sex couples. He was an early and ardent supporter and donor to Seattle Trans Pride and through his work on the Seattle Red Dress Party has raised tens of thousands of dollars for local HIV/AIDS charities.
Egan interacts with small businesses on a daily basis. He is a successful small business owner and non-profit director and has committed his career to building community and expanding opportunity.
As a Seattle City Councilmember, Egan will strive every day to amplify the voices of all Seattleites and harness the great will and innovation available in Seattle to tackle the city’s most intractable problems. Importance of Candidacy:
If elected, Egan will return LGBTQ representation to the Seattle City Council.
One thing that always pisses me off is when bubbling in the ballot, are the Advisory votes, and the language "The legislature imposed, without a vote of the people, an additional service and other business and occupation tax..."
And I'm all for the max $30 tabs. Can't wait to see the massive failure in a few years with the light rail on the floating bridge.
Attorneys for the Lyles estate and her children responded in a court filing that it was clear Lyles was suffering from a “significant mental illness condition at the time of the incident such that she lacked the mental capacity” to commit a felony.
In the lawsuit, the attorneys alleged that the officers, in approaching Lyles, failed to take into account her mental history and a prior incident only days earlier.
So its the cops fault she went all stabby and shiznet...
People deserve the government they get... Isn't that the saying? Well, those who want this shit will love it. Others will want to flee the state. One of my coworkers who lives in VA is already talking about moving down here if something opens up.
The judges and county officials mostly have no party affiliation but a gal running for town clerk had signs made with "Democrat" in big bold letters above her name. It's a town of 500+/-, she got 12 votes. I feel like she'd have done better if she didn't walk around town putting post it notes on people's doors bitching about their flowers needing watered and what not.
Seattle is like every other liberal-run city. Many people who support their shitty policies find themselves unable to afford living there. The problem is that they move somewhere else and repeat the cycle and ruin the new place.
“It is the power of socialist ideas, Marxist ideas, the power of our analysis, strategies, our understanding of class struggle, the historical memory and lessons we bring of the past victories and defeats of our class, the working class,” she said.
‘if amazon wasn’t such complete assholes, I would love to see them uproot and leave. Running on a platform that says tax the biggest employer is a great idea. This race seems like all the Cali races in 2018. Losing on election night by a big percentage to then win. I am sure the other candidate was a complete asshole as well though.
