I'm just going to lead off and say I think it's stupid for Roma to be nominated in both Best Picture and Foreign Language.

Black Panther got 7 nominations and appeared poised to win it all this year, but then...God Dammit, Netflix.

How do we feel about Amazon and Netflix gaming their way into nominations? Guess it was fair game after Manchester by the Sea.

Black Panther.... *eye roll*

I hope Into the Spider-Verse can overcome Incredibles 2.

Spidey has won most of the animated awards so far. Looks like Incredibles 2, Isle of Dogs, and Have a Nice Day each won one time, but Spidey has the rest.

I thought Roma was a Netflix produced film, but you're right, it wasn't. Good. That keeps their perfect streak of 0 good original movies intact.

Also, how the hell did Won’t You Be My Neighbor not get a nod? Did we have to suck RBG’s dick even more? And since when did docs get best original song noms (for RGB no less)? At least with that one it’s going to Gaga.

Peter Jackson's WW1 film nowhere to be found either.

So many woke choices by the Academy though :meh:

So who will win Best Actor -- Bruce Wayne, Rocket Raccoon, Green Goblin, Aragorn, or Freddie Mercury?

Outrage!

That's the movie that booted Boyle from Bond.

That and Beale Street are next on my list.

BTW, have they picked an Oscars host yet, or are they just going to be all like “Whatever, we’ll go hostless!”

Surprised they didn’t go to someone like Billy Crystal and be like “Hey, can you do us a solid?”

I don’t know. Mr. Robot is Ok, but John Connor took it next level.
I haven't seen either movie. Black Panther might be the only movie nominated for any award that I've seen. Wait, I've seen Isle of Dogs, and three of the five movies in the Visual Effects Category.

There aren't very many movies nominated in total. Pretty crummy year for movies outside of the Comic Book variety.

I would watch the Oscars for how cringe Crystal would be. "You can watch movies on phones now!"

They released it after the qualification period ended.

But don't let that curb your outrage.
Are you outraged that they didn't nominate Peter Jackson's Mortal Engines?

I believe their plan is to just have the presenters sort of serve as the hosts.
