I saw the documentary about 8 years ago and felt sorry for the teenagers falsely accused of a Satanic Ritualistic Murder. I had forgotten about it until today's show and was pleased to hear they have been freed. It amazes me that people can come out of a situation like that and not just spew hatred.

The newer documentary is supposed to be on Hbo this Friday I think. Really good booking by Roland. Great week of radio.

I need to watch all 3 of those. The director also mentioned Errol Morris' "The Thin Blue Line," which is on Netflix instant and is highly recommended. It is considered the originator of the modern crime dramatization recreations for television (if you see it, you'll know what I'm talking about). After 5 minutes I said to myself "this guy totally did it, and they are grasping at straws." By the end, I completely changed my opinion. The guy also got out because of that movie. And then sued Errol Morris. But that's another story.

I've had it set on my DVR for 2 weeks.

The first two are really good documentaries.

I saw the first 2 and they were great. I too have my DVR set to record this tomorrow night. I can't wait to see it as I'm a huge fan of the others as well as the WM3. Listening to Jason today was great, he's so well adjusted considering all he's been through. I'm happy they're finally free, just a little upset about the way it was done. They shouldn't have had to plead guilty, but I understand why they did it.

I saw the first two, and for the sake of my sanity I just don't think I can watch the 3rd. This travesty just makes a maniac out of me.

Fuck those asshole podunk cops and that asshole podunk prosecutor... but especially fuck those fucking 'Because Jesus' podunk hayseeds who sat on the jury and convicted those kids because one of them wore black nail polish and listened to devil music.

I saw the first doc on HBO like 15 fucking years ago and it pissed me off so bad that I nearly kicked the screen of my TV in. The only thing that kept me from going on a rampage was the fact that I figured their convictions would certainly be overturned on appeal in like a year... two years tops. 15 fucking years later. Ugh... podunk hayseeds just suck and they shouldn't be allowed into courtrooms as anything other than defendants.

What is really amazing is that the first documentary wasn't made with the goal of showing they were innocent.

It was being made DURING the trial and the filmakers realized that evidence exonerating them was being ignored.

That is true. They mentioned that today. They were sent there just to cover it basically. Then they started to see what a clusterfuck it was.

And Damien always says that if it weren't for the documentary he'd probably be dead by now.

Probably for the same reason The Wire isn't in there either. They're retarded.

I have them on my PC (The Wire and the docs) and I'll save the newest one on my DVR.

I felt the same thing. That DA railroaded those kids and rode on the backs of moronic trailer trash bible thumpers. I think the DA was obsessed with possibly running for a higher office, don't remember. So getting a conviction was a cornerstone to his own political aspirations.

i havent seen any of the docs, but i absolutely will.
listening to the guy talking today about his life made me surprised he was so positive about what happened. it also kind of made me sad to listen to his tone, and the way he looks at things, because it tells me his life was stolen from him at a young age because he kind of comes off almost like a kind of naive kid, even though he has seen a reality i cant even imagine. and i am not insulting him, or saying he is dumb or anything, it just tells me that at 16 or 17 his life was stolen from him in a sense.
i really hope the kid can get the charges dropped against him so he can sue the state, and hopefully spend the rest of his life traveling the world like he said.
18+ years in prison for a crime you didnt commit is the same as working 40-50 years at a job(worse-i know) so the kid deserves to live the rest of his life as a retiree

Because they made for the worst radio I've ever heard in my lifetime, I now have to watch these boring douches' movies.

Now that's a strategy.

I'm feeling more and more embarrassed that I haven't heard of it.

And I'm sure it's very amazing. But if someone had a story about fucking a unicorn horn, crushing it up and snorting it, then riding a tidal wave of joy and visiting all of the worlds in every Sagan novel, it would sound no more interesting if delivered by that tired hick dullard and his tireder dullard friend. Holy fucking sleep deprivation.

Is the On Demand Queue an entirely different thing than HBO GO? If so, and you have an HBO subscription, you might want to check and see if it is on HBO GO, because I'm pretty sure The Wire is on there - which Danesy said is missing from the On Demand Queue.

My ONLY complaint about the movies is that they spend a bit of time in them trying to point the finger at someone else instead of just showing the evidence that the 3 are innocent.

The 180 by the target of the second film is a twist though. The way he is portrayed in this one makes me wonder how much clever editing was used in purgatory to make him seem guilty, or if he was just putting it onfor the cameras.

I think it is obvious that the state/prosecution was convinced that they would be found innocent in a re-trial or they wouldn't have offered the Alford Plea.

I watched and have followed this thing pretty close.

The fact that Terry Hobbs has not been put on trial for this is shocking to me.

Unfortunately there is not much that can be done at this point with all the time that has passed, but the guy has a proven history of violence and has NO ALIBI for the time frame in which the killings supposedly took place.

What .... the ....fuck.....

I know editing and such can make someone appear to have said something in a certain context, but they have this guy repeatedly digging holes and yet nothing has been done to pursue it. Instead they focused on the tall guy with the funky moossstache in the beginning of the investigation(the stepfather John Mark Byers) .... he now sees the light and figured out what the DA and WMPD were doing. Chasing after loose leads with the black guy and the two teenage drug addicts. They were completely ignoring Terry Hobbs and the other witnesses in the neighborhood that saw him with the boys that day.

I'm just amazed at how stupid some of those people are that run that town... and I'm from South Carolina... go figure. I've never seen some shit like that here and there are some dumb fuckers in charge in this state. Even Susan Smith couldn't fool the rednecks that ran the Laurens County sheriff's department. It didn't take long for them to figure that shit out.

That FBI profiler nailed Terry Hobbs as far as the psychopath persona.... the guy is a pathological liar and a violent person. He beat his wife and shot his brother in law when he tried to defend his sister. The guy fits the picture of a killer just based on the fact that he has convinced himself that he didn't do it, thus making a polygraph test useless. People with mental disorders can easily pass these tests because they are able to mask the truth and be comfortable in the fact that they are lying. It's called a disorder for a reason....

Either way, I truly believe he did it. He fits the mold of a killer IMO... unfortunately he will never be convicted and more than likely no one will. The guilty plea will stand and follow these guys forever. It was a bullshit legal move in order for the state of Arkansas to save face on a complete blunder of an investigation.

Echols was a weird kid, but damn I went to school and grew up around many a kid that acted out and listened to Metallica and Slayer and dyed their hair black, etc... etc.... that doesn't make them killers.

Have you seen the police interviews of Terry done just a few years ago? The guy was all over the place. It's up on youtube. Really interesting especially after watching the docs. The guy is a creepola.

Haven't watched the whole video, but they showed interviews last night from each time he has been questioned including 2009 which I guess is the last time he was deposed. The only reason he was questioned in the first place was because of his lawsuit against the Dixie Chicks. It had nothing to do with the witnesses that have come out placing him with the boys that day. He has denied that and when questioned about his whereabouts in the time frame of the murders, he just says "I don't know"....

In any other state under any other circumstances, this guy would be on trial based on that alone. The physical evidence may not be enough, but to answer a question about your whereabouts at the time of the murders with "I don't know" and that's enough?, that is just unreal to me.

Hell, I guess I could kill someone in Arkansas, find a goth kid, a slow kid and his friend and blame them... then say "I don't know" when questioned about it.

Yeah.. the guy fits the mold.
