The performance impact for gaming isn't too terrible. It sucks, but at the moment, the sky isn't falling. It's only about a 5% decrease.

Ahh...mine sits up on a desk behind my monitor...yea it gets dusty but not as dusty as when I had my pc on the floor...I can vacuum it out every few weeks and the dust screens work great for keeping most of it out of the case

I've heard on some chips up to 35% but those are estimated. I can't wait to see when it actually starts rolling out. Good thing I'm an AMD fanboi I suppose.

For virtual machines, yeah it may have bigger impact. From benchmarks I've seen from the 4000 series and beyond, about 5% in gaming.

Well I hope so for all the Intel bois out there. Because that would be fucking infuriating to have a giant drop in performance because of their fuck up.

    Looks like no performance loss.

    Another patch. Another nothing burger.

Looks like a performance loss here on the 4790k. Small, but still a performance loss.
In terms of gaming, it's a meh burger. Annoying, but not drastic. But it's just not accurate to say there is 0 performance loss.

And of course a law firm is already filing a class action lawsuit.

“Hardware Unboxed observed virtually no frame rate loss in Ashes of the Singularity, Assassin’s Creed: Origins, or Battlefield 1. Phew.”

Battlefield 1 is safe. I’m good.

I’ll be sure to spend my $2.12 on a new CPU.

Anyone joining the suit will be lucky to get a nickel. It'll likely be thrown out, unless it can be proven Intel knew about the security flaw bug before releasing any new CPUs. Or it would create a precedent to sue for any bug ever.

Seems decent. A lot of nice extras for usage (USB-3 hub, etc), games seem to look ok. I guess Gsync is transparent? I may have jacked video settings to the point the 1080 card can only do 2560 at 50fps in some games.

You can turn on a GSync indicator from the control panel if you want to confirm it’s working.

Other than that, it should be seamless.

If the game is running under 144fps and the game looks smooth, GSync is working as intended.

AMD announced a new Ryzen line in April. So that has me really interested since I was looking to get a new CPU around March. Right now, I'd go for an 8600k, but if the 2600 Ryzen is within 5%-8%, I'd probably go for that since the stock cooler for AMD is actually a very good cooler for OC'ing.

Purchased my Corsair 740 Air and artic silver thermal paste while its still on sale this week. Hopefully it will be a breeze to build in like the reviews say. Can't be any worse than the S340 elites cramped case.

I can take a picture of my 500R with the sides off. :haha7:

Its been like that since I spent that first horrible day trying to build it while sick as a dog.

That actually sounds like a funny picture. I'll take one later tonight.

GENTLEMEN! PREPARE TO FEAST YOUR EYES ON A SYSTEM OF RENOWN AND INTRIGUE!

The dust and lack of cable management is for better FPS.

Finally built the system in the 740 air. That was the smoothest build I've ever done. I was done and I felt like I missed something because it went so easy.

I sold my 2 year old GTX 1070 for 600 bucks on ebay thanks to the crazy price hikes.

Together with my old 3570k/MOBO/Memory combo I recently sold. That gives me 800+ bucks if a new video card launches this year.

I still have a few other odds and ends I can sell as well. My old Corsair 500R case still sells for about 80 bucks on ebay. Should probably get rid of it while I can.

Its gonna suck not having a good video card now but I don't know any good games launching soon. Plus I can play stardew valley with onboard graphics.

No gaming GPUs are confirmed to be coming out this year, so far. There also doesn't really seem to be a need for another generation to come out yet. But those, if they were to come out, would just get bought out by miners.

The upgrade bug is also lodged right up my ass again. I'll have the buckaroos for an R5 1600, mobo, 16GB of RAM and a new case shortly. Or I could wait a bit longer/sell off some collectables for an 8600k (or Ryzen+ but I doubt 200mhz more would be worth it since MicroCenter has the 1600 for $169).
The catch is it may ultimately not be worth it because at 1440 GPU > CPU by quite a bit. Though PUBG runs at 90%+ CPU utilization while being an unoptimized hunk of shit. Better, but not ideal.
So, this is a decision that has been kind of obsessed over the past few days. And my current setup is quite difficult to find benchmarks at 1440 to compare to a newer CPU.

I'd settle for a properly price 1050 Ti until a new series hits. Its all fun and games over pricing your card on ebay until you yourself are trying to hunt down something yourself.

I was using my GTX 560 yesterday to play some Subnautica at 1080P with low detail, but then I got the bright idea to update the drivers. Now I'm using the onboard graphics now because I can't figure out how to fix the black screen the 560 gives me when I plug it in now.

Seems silly to sell a perfectly good GPU after your other upgrades.
