My friend thinks "Pet" is about Bush, the gov't and the war. I see it as a drug talking to its addict. Who's right?

Any other song interpretations that you guys have would be fun reads too. Maynard writes some deep stuff.

It's a tough call- that album has quite a few possible interpretations as a whole.

Knowing Maynard, however, I'd say it's political.

the "remix" is about bush but the original is about drugs, the whole album "the 13th step" is about drug addictions

You beat me to it. Absolutely correct. Maynard seldom explains anything any music he makes but the one line in particular "Sway the rhythm of the new world order" is about current events and he elaborated upon it in the remix as said in Revolver magazine.

The album in itself has several directions though. If you see the stage show it makes more sense.
