Thankfully, they reached an agreement.
Really? Peter Jackson? I wonder if he can pull off a movie like the hobbit. "whaa"
Is he Directing or Producing? cause i just read Executive Producing meh.
Probably will be wearing both hats. Hope, he gets a nice piece of the back end.
Is the Hobbit more of a kids book?
Read it, then give us a thirty page report on your findings.
It's got more going for it action wise than Lord of the Rings but yes its a kids book but its not simplistic ala the Narnia books, where a battle will be over in a page and a half.
ITS ABOUT BILL BO BAGGINS SAM! HE FINDS A RING AND KILLS A DRAGON THEN SOME BIRDS KILL PEOPLE SAM!
oh my god it's Quincy!!
it could be a phenominal movie if done in the same epic-scale as LOTR. The Battle of the 7 Armies could be the coolest thing ever shot if done right.
Hell, I still like the animated version of The Hobbit

It's looking like he's just exec producing. He's directing "Lovely Bones" then doing the "Tin Tin" trilogy with Spielberg.
There's quotes from Sam Raimi that he was offered the job to direct it but he said he would only do it if Peter Jackson was producing. So that might be a sign.
Hopefully the strike doesnt eventually fuck this up, too.
Well if he's not directing it, then that site should really rename the headline of the article.
Id read recently that they were planning two movies, the first part being The Hobbit and the second covering the events in The Silmarillion, as kind of a bridge to the LotR trilogy. Has anyone seen confirmation of this anywhere ?
From my understanding they are making a movie based the Hobbit and a movie based on the events between The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings and what is in the appendicies and we'll probably see the Wizards and Elves drive the Necromancer (Sauron) out of the Southern Mirkwood a event only mentioned in passing by Gandalf at the end of the Hobbit.
damn, I saw the title of the thread and was hoping for a sequel to The Frighteners.
Miss Meet the Feebles, Dead Alive Peter Jackson.
Dead Alive is one of my all time favorites. In an article he mentions the possibility of doing another low budget splatter flick again:
Full article (its over a year old but still one can hope):
Two Hobbit films......
This article goes into much more details, except for Director. Only mentions Jackson and Fran Walsh as Exec producers.
Very excited to hear they put the bullshit behind them.
Well . . . it's not like the action in LOTR wasn't pumped way up for the movie. Remember the battle with the shadow demon in the first movie? Two paragraphs in the book. I can see Jackson doing the same here.
This should be amazing
That could be so fucking great.
Except those two paragraphs took up 10 pages. We get it, Gandalf's cape was majestic, move on.
the Hobbit really set everything up. It's easily the biggest movie of whatever year if they don't frak it up....
