Anyone here had any before? 'Tis my second bad flareup, and this one sucked. My tailbone was in all kinds of pain. I had it drained and packed yesterday morning. I was referred to a surgeon, but my horseshit insurance won't cover it right now. At least I know what it is now, and can plan to have it dealt with on a permanent basis in the future.

Here's a tip... don't Google Image "Pilonidal cysts"

I had a cyst in my chest a few years ago, it got infected and it had to be cut out. Even though it was incredibly easy surgery, the fact that it was happening to my chest had me freaked the fuck out.

Like I was having open heart surgery. Then I had to pack a 1-2cm hole in my chest with gauze for weeks.

Worst part is I had to WebMD the thing and go back to the ER to be seen by another doc to get it confirmed. The one I saw the night before said it was a basic skin infection. I'd say it's a bit more than basic when a lump appears where there wasn't one the night before and it becomes impossible to put any pressure on your tailbone. I honestly thought it was roids the first time, which is why I didn't get it checked 3 years ago. It sort of subsided to a satisfactory level on its own.

Also, it's mortifying as hell to have pretty female doctors cutting and poking your buttcrack.

Google imaged it...anyway... came across this.
Perhaps you have safe search on? All I got were dude's hairy asscracks

The type of girl beer goggles were invented for, right on the borderline of bangable.
Are you talking about the specific girl in that photo? Because she's pretty bangable as is, even with my ridiculous standards.

The prospect of having something drained and packed in the vicinity of one's hiney region must be a bit unsettling I'd imagine.

Surgeon? ER? Gah! Yeah... that'll really get you drained of cash and packed in the ass.

This sounds like something that can easily be handled by a walk-in clinic or a doc-in-a-box... maybe even a private dermatologist's office if you want to get fancy. I REALLY REALLY would avoid going to an ER for this if you don't have insurance.

Whatever you do, do it quick... small, cheap medical problems have a way of becoming big, expensive problems for people who take a "wait and see what color it turns" approach towards their maladies.

I completely agree, but also, there are a lot of problems like this that you can solve on your own with a little persistence and research.

Note, I don't know if this is one of those problems, but do your research.

And yeah, doctor's always the safest bet. I'm just a guy who's pretty good with tape, razor blades and first aid for some pretty severe issues.

YMMV, and it probably will. I'm pretty damn good at fixing things thanks to the military.

I just want to say that research is your best friend, and I in no way advocate attempting to fix this on your own. There's a metric fuck-ton of blood vessels, nerve endings, and your kidneys and liver down in that area (if your aim's very bad), and I know nothing of this particular type of malady. I could research it and tell you definitively, but I'm not in the mood to stare at pictures of man ass to fix a problem for my internet friend.

I'm just saying that with a lot of things, a little bit of research and pain control can save you thousands of dollars at the people vet. I've poured chemicals on myself that hurt like the crucifiction and stitched myself up on things that most people would have spent 24 hours in a hospital for.

I'm not saying it's the way to do things, I'm just saying it's an option if you're confident in your abilities in both research and execution. I, also, don't have a health insurance policy... By choice. Chances are I won't need it. Once I have kids? Oh god damn yeah I will. But for now, I'm pretty sure I've got this unless I'm in some horrific car wreck, in which case the government has to bail me out anyway... And it's about god damn time I saw some of that cash.

The Toucan Sam beak is a bit distracting, but I'd drain and pack her.

I had the surgery in high school. It wasn't as bad as snapping my elbow in half, getting my collapsed lung fixed while awake with wearing off morphine, or getting metal and bone put into my spine. If I can do it you can :)

And for the record I do not have a hairy man ass.

Since my insurance won't cover the surgery, is there some religious-run place or training hospital that will take this kind of thing? I REALLY want to get some sort of treatment that will end it for good. (besides a bullet)

It looks like there's a GP doc running a walk-in clinic in your town...

http://www.healthcare.com/profile/afterhours-walk-in-medical-care-llc/

Have him take a look at it... maybe you can work a cash deal with him. Maybe get your diseased ass crack sorted out for around 500 hundo or so... which beats the fuck out of the 5 grand an ER would charge you.

Good luck, bro.

I've had one for years but never had it taken care of. The surgery looks pretty invasive & seems to have a fair amount of down time after. Could be due to the fact that you have a 5-8cm hole on your lower back/upper asshole. It comes & goes every couple of years. Usually when the winter hits & I'm sitting in a truck plowing for 24-36 hours straight.

How shitty is your insurance that it won't cover this? If left untreated & infected, it could turn septic (as in shock, not cesspool).

Get another doctor. I had a fatty tumor on my head for years that became more noticeable the more bald I got. It was totally cosmetic but treated it as a biopsy. Didn't cost anything to remove it.

It's state insurance right now since i'm not making enough to get my own. And i don't qualify for the regular medicaid (at least I didn't at the time of applying) so right now it's just family docs and things they need done like bloodwork, shrinks, and prescriptions.

Went to the doc and she says the antibiotics are doing the job so far. Hopefully it'll clear up and I won't have to deal with it again for a little while...at least until I'm able to deal with it on a more permanent basis.
