Providence to Boston question

O&A Curmudgeon
Hello Boston baggers, I'm going to Iceland in May and will be flying into Providence, RI from Orlando, FL. Then I want to take MBTA to Boston to fly out of Logan to Reykjavik (don't ask, flights from Orlando are sold out, and this is the cheapest way to get there). I'm looking at the MBTA site at this picture:

and it looks like that for $7.75 per ride I can get a Zone 8 pass to take me from Providence to South Station or Back bay and then pay the normal fare on the T from there to Logan.

Is my assumption correct? I'm familiar with the red/orange/green/blue lines, but not the commuter rail.
