Looking for some feedback from techies here on a new HDTV I want to buy.

I am going to upgrade my current main TV to a new one and did not want to drudge through websites offering help when really they are shills for the electronics companies.

I mainly watch sports on this TV. I don't game and rarely watch DVDs so the TV I want is something that makes sporting events really clear and crisp. I don't want anything less than 240HZ but my question would be would plasma at 600HZ give me a much smoother picture than an LED/LCD at 240Hz?

The size would be between 51 and 59" that I am looking at and under $2100.

Thanks!

It would be 360Hz smoother. But...film is 24Hz. Do you think movies are particularly blurry? Do you think 25x the frame rate of film is actually noticeable AT ALL compared to say 60Hz? Or perhaps could this be one of those, you know, marketing gimmicks? 120Hz is more than enough. If you get more, fine. Don't make any choices based solely on that, and remember you'll need 2x whatever rate you decide on if it's a 3D TV.

My brother just bought a 73" Mitsubishi 1080p DLP with 3D.

DLP?!?!?

That's what I said.

Yes, DLP. Mitsubishi stuck with it.

The thing is amazing. $1349 on Amazon. Pretty badass TV for the money.

It's on my list when our 50" plasma dies.

If you can wait, I suggest waiting until November and checking the Black Friday deals. You can get most of the deals online now and a week before thanksgiving. This takes a little work but you can end up with a great tv at a great price.
