IVER HEATH, England - "Quantum of Solace" is the title of the new James Bond film, the 22nd Bond adventure.

The title was revealed to reporters Thursday at Pinewood Studios outside of London, where the movie is being filmed.

Producer Michael G. Wilson said the title, chosen only a few days ago, was taken from a story by Bond creator Ian Fleming that appears in the collection "For Your Eyes Only."

"We thought it was an intriguing title and referenced what happened to Bond and what is happening in the film," he said.

Daniel Craig is returning as Agent 007. He picks up where 2006's "Casino Royale" left off, with Bond contemplating revenge after his betrayal by his true love, Vesper Lynd.

"It is not a revenge movie," said co-producer Barbara Broccoli. "It's a lot more complicated than that. It has lots of action but it also deals with the inner turmoil Bond is feeling."

Filming began at Pinewood Studios earlier this month. Location shooting is planned in Austria, Italy and Panama. Judi Dench returns as the MI-6 boss M and Mathieu Amalric ("The Diving Bell and the Butterfly") plays the villain. Additions to the cast include Ukrainian actress Olga Kurylenko as mysterious Bond girl Camille.

"Quantum of Solace" is set to open in Britain and the United States on Nov. 7.

That's a weird title, it doesn't sound like a Bond title, but I like it. I feel sorry for the singer who has to try to fit "Quantum of Solace" into his song.

Explain to me how it's pretentious to name your Bond movie the same name as a bond story?

Quantum Solace?

It's actually a title of a short story from Ian Flemming. That being said i doubt it will actually be based on that story, just borrowing the title.

After the change of pace with 'Royale', 'Solace' will return to a more "classical Bond movie. There's a touch of Ken Adam (the production designer behind the giant villain lairs of the early Bond films) and '60s spy movie." Bond himself will be "misbehaving more this time" and going on the offensive, with the 'action quotient' said to be double that of 'Royale'. B-roll video from a British BBC news report below shows off the two scenes witnessed by press yesterday, a brief chat with Craig, and scenes being shot on-set in Pinewood standing in for a Latin American 5-star hotel
plot said:
'Quantum of Solace' continues the high octane adventures of James Bond (Daniel Craig) in 'Casino Royale'. Betrayed by Vesper, the woman he loved, 007 fights the urge to make his latest mission personal. Pursuing his determination to uncover the truth, Bond and M (Judi Dench) interrogate Mr White (Jesper Christensen) who reveals the organisation which blackmailed Vesper is far more complex and dangerous than anyone had imagined. (SPECTRE! SPECTRE! SPECTRE!)

Forensic intelligence links an MI6 traitor to a bank account in Haiti where a case of mistaken identity introduces Bond to the beautiful but feisty Camille (Olga Kurylenko), a woman who has her own vendetta. Camille leads Bond straight to Dominic Greene (Mathieu Amalric), a ruthless business man and major force within the mysterious organisation.

On a mission that leads him to Austria, Italy and South America, Bond discovers that Greene, conspiring to take total control of one of the world's most important natural resources, is forging a deal with the exiled General Medrano (Joaquin Cosio). Using his associates in the organisation, and manipulating his powerful contacts within the CIA and the British government, Greene promises to overthrow the existing regime in a Latin American country, giving the General control of the country in exchange for a seemingly barren piece of land.

In a minefield of treachery, murder and deceit, Bond allies with old friends in a battle to uncover the truth. As he gets closer to finding the man responsible for the betrayal of Vesper, 007 must keep one step ahead of the CIA, the terrorists and even M, to unravel Greene's sinister plan and stop his organisation."

Now did they secure the rights for the use of Spectre as the article suggest or are they just talking out their asses? Cause i thought the rights to use that name and the character Bloefeld were all Held up cause of the Thunderball debacle from the 60's.

Oh, the "SPECTRE! SPECTRE! SPECTRE!" was my editorial addition. McClory died a few years ago so I don't know what's going on with the rights.

They don't need to call it "SPECTRE", really. Make up some other name for it. As long as they just write the damn thing well.

Man, I so hope they don't fuck this franchise up. I want the films to be more like Casino Royale, more intense and quasi-realistic, rather than the old comic-book-style Bond films. Those were fun, but Casino Royale showed what Bond could really be. You can still have the hot chicks and gadgets, but be fucking hard and serious.

You see it was the name of an Ian Flemming Bond story. We could very well see James Bond in New York one of these days at this rate.

I think he was referring to an actual Bond short story that Fleming wrote for a travel magazine - it was basically a travelogue with Bond dropped into the middle.

Copyright extends 75 years after the death of the author :action-sm Just because someone dies doesn't mean that their property can be freely used.

I meant that they might be able to buy it back easier without McClory being a douche.

For the record, the pic is from the Dragonlance Chronicles, which kick the shit out of damn near any fantasy series ever written, including the LotR.

All i know about the Dragonlance series is my Mother's friend from high school wrote like 9 sequels to that series. Some broad name Jean Rabe and she dedicated one of her shit books to her group of friends from high school. Back to Bond though i hope it doesnt go all Thunderball on us.

the song for casino royale never used the movie title so really they don't have to incorporate the title.

Not to be a dick..:
quan·tum (kwntm)
n. pl. quan·ta (-t)
1. A quantity or amount.
2. A specified portion.
3. Something that can be counted or measured.
4. Physics
a. The smallest amount of a physical quantity that can exist independently, especially a discrete quantity of electromagnetic radiation.

sol·ace (sls)
n.
1. Comfort in sorrow, misfortune, or distress; consolation.
2. A source of comfort or consolation.
tr.v. sol·aced, sol·ac·ing, sol·ac·es
1. To comfort, cheer, or console, as in trouble or sorrow. See Synonyms at comfort.
2. To allay or assuage: "They solaced their wretchedness, however, by duets after supper" Jane Austen.

Quantum of Solace means, thus then, if you follow this logic,...a brief moment of consolation..ergo the relevance to the presented storyline.
