The advertisers clearly have decided that O&A are worth buying ad times. Anything else is paranoid delusions from a very sick man who has a massive ego problem.

And don't forget certain sponsors also pulled their ads to support O&A, and now they are back too.

Don't be fooled. 12+ is the entire ball game. Demos are great to point to, but to rule over all is to be undisputed the best.
Ummm, huh?
Maybe to anybody that rating DON'T matter to. Advertisers and industry insiders look at demos. People in the business know that a show like O&A will not be #1 12+. That is reserved for the Light FMs and stations that can be played in stores and offices. All O&A care about is Men 18-34 and 25-54.
That is what they are selling. The 12+ number is the beauty contest number for people reading the ratings out of the newspaper.

Maybe they could play some avril or some justin timberlake coming back from breaks:icon_roll

Cause that would make for some more girls in MY target demo at road shows

And for all of us who programmed radio stations it's what we strive for. I can pull in 18-34 easy. It's not that hard.

Call me greedy but when I run a radio station I want everyone possible to listen. When is the last time you've heard Rush Limbaugh or Sean Hannity deny large segments of a possible audience.

Those people out of your precious 18-34 male demo have green money just like everyone else.

Ha, so if O&A can figure out a way to get 12-17 year old girls and
34-55 year old women to listen in any REAL numbers I'll buy your point.
Some stations (and shows) are purely demo based. They don't even TRY to hit 12+.
THAT is fact. Rush IS denying a large part of his audience, they're called liberals. I don't find your posts very educated as far as this subject goes.

#15
Probably one of the largest segments of Rush and Hannity's core audiences are just that. Liberals

And like I said. If I can find out a way to sell to males 18-34 with O&A or any other show AND sell to anyone else who's buying I'll gladly take that challenge.

I'm 34 years old. And I'll be out of the demo come October. Should I just stop listening then? Should I give up on males older than 34? O&A themselves have said many times they'd love to get more women to listen. And as for kids most are curious enough to check it out. I do recall the "what's in your parent's nightstand?" bit.

So basically what you're saying is the notion to make more money from as many people as possible and become popular with as many people as possible is a bad thing. I mean by that logic O&A would have never went back to FM radio and would have been happy to just settle with XM only.

But the show isn't geared towards kids....Do the advertisers really care....Kids for the most part don't even have money. The 18-34 is and always has always been the most important rating as far I knew...

No, I'm not saying that. It would be great to attract every demo of listener. It's just not realistic. When the sales dept. wants to start selling tampons on the O&A show they will be screwed. 12+ is pretty but the reality is, the demos are what it's ALL about. I've done some radio. I know what I'm talking about.

Ten years ago I wouldn't attempt to argue with you on that. Then came a larger interest in the net, ipods, etc.. Radio as a whole is down across the board.

And I never said let's gear the show to kids or women, but if any want to come along why shouldn't they is what I'm saying. Why should everyone else be neglected?

For example Ron and Fez had one book. Of which they did pretty good overall. And in a larger sampling 18-49 they were number 2. I'd settle with that.

#20
And as for 18-34 I used to live and die by it myself, but one day I woke up 30 years old and realized I'm sliding out of that demo. If you look at O&A I'd be more inclined to make 18-49 persons my home demo.

Just sayin.
