Youth football player tackles referee, leading to brawl

By Carrie Wells & Todd Ruger
Published: Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at 5:32 p.m.

It started with a disputed call, followed by some disgruntled coaches throwing water bottles at the referees.

What happened next, captured on video and now being investigated by authorities, is shocking: more than a dozen youth football coaches and players attacking at least one referee, including a player in full gear except for his helmet flying into a referee and tackling him to the ground.

Felony charges could follow an investigation into what happened Saturday — and who did what — during the game between the age 13-14 junior teams of the Sarasota Gators and North Port Huskies played at Riverview High School.

The investigation will be easier for authorities since the fight was videotaped by someone in the stands and turned over to the Sheriff's Office.

I just saw this on the news...

My favorite part of the story:

It is a felony in Florida to assault a sports official.
Really? Sports officials get special treatment? Youth umpires and referees? This is state legislation?

13-14 year olds... Florida and Texas are negro farms for the NFL. It's insane.

Hope ref buys a sap and smacks the shit out those uppity savages. The kid who tackled him should be tossed out on his ass, as well as serving some time.

The parents of the savages should all be shot for their failures.

Fucking savages... the coaches participating is the worst part. They should absolutely be thrown in jail, but they will probably just be fired with full pension and benefits.

Never gonna happen. Black assault on a white
man is never considered racial violence.
You can't really tell from this video if it was a racial thing. I doubt it. Sports thuggary transcends race. However, even if the video had audio of them saying: "KILL THE WHITE DEVIL!" they still wouldn't charge them with a race crime.

I don't think they were school employees. They would have said freshmen or sophomore team instead of the 13-14 year old "junior teams" like they called them. The game was just played at the high school. Besides, isn't 13-14 a bit young for enough of those people to be attending high school and being able to put together a football team? :icon_mrgr

I'd imagine this is some Pop Warner/Pony League type thing and the heboons that attacked the ref will be summarily booted out of the league in addition to charges being filed since it was all caught on video.

And this reporter sucks. Did the ref in fact blow the call? If so, fuck 'em. ;)

I went to my 11 year-old niece's soccer game in San Diego last year. She plays in one of those "traveling" leagues where it's pretty hardcore and all the kids are pretty good, even at that age. It's pretty lily-white, with the exception of a few Hispanic ringers on the team.

One of the refs was blowing several calls all game and then didn't call a pretty flagrant foul in which one of our girls practically had her ankle broken. I just belted out a "Come on ref!" that was loud enough for parents around me to hear but not the ref himself and was immediately SSHHHHHHH'd by my brother and a few people around me. They explained that if he had heard me he could have booted me. If it's bad enough they'll also eject the player as well. They have absolutely a zero tolerance policy for that kind of thing and I think it's a good thing.

But this ref was obviously favoring the other team. We were the "visitor" from a city 30 miles away from where the game was being played on the home team's turf. It was so bad our coach ended up getting booted later for just trying to "discuss" another blown call. He wasn't belligerent or anything and had tried to talk to the ref privately during a timeout away from the players and parents.

Even the other team said after the game said this guy sucked. Apparently he was some up and coming soccer star that blew out his knee and missed out on a scholarship or some shit like that and he obviously had a chip on his shoulder being relegated to reffing preteen soccer games for rich white kids.

I hope he did the right thing and threw a water bottle at the ref and then charged and tackled him, right?:icon_cool

When the camera goes back to the ref, you can see that one of the coaches is on the ground, so he could have thrown the first punch.

Not exactly. Link

Not an automatic felony, just upgrades the charge by one level. It CAN change a misdemeanor to a felony, but only if its a first degree misdemeanor to begin with.

I'm really not that kind of guy and I hate parents like that. I helped coach my kid's softball team one year and I was a perfect gentleman. I used to say what you just did to asshole parents in the stands all the time.

Naturally the bleeding heart comes in with a pussy possibility. Got another one for you, maybe his rotund waistline caused him to lose his balance while he was throwing a punch, thus ending up on the ground. Fuck you and your white guilt.
