The best part is an 80,000,000 dollar contract to produce 5,000 rifles equates to 16,000 dollars per rifle. It says more than 5,000 so many they'll end up producing closer to 50,000 so it'll become more typical of the actual cost?

Nah...that's not how bribes work.

If I remember correctly, the contract is for a delivered weapon system. Rifle, magazines, case, spare parts (A LOT of the cash goes into spares), tools, optics, optic mount, bipod, and other accessories. That's typical for most weapon contracts.

I was thinking of captioning it with "Why, Remington? Why?", but I thought that would've been a bit too obscure.

Marlin? Is there a big demand for .22s?

Oh right, duh. Training. I just kind of assumed everybody had a good .22 from being a kid.

You're also incorrectly assuming Marlin only makes 22s.

I know they must make more but that is what they are noted for, right?

Bull. I never knew a kid with a lever action but every family had a Marlin 22.

I'll have to go through my collection but I think I have a Marlin 30-30 somewhere in the mix. I think the other 30-30 I have is a winchester.

Both are clean shooting. Got them when I was about 11 or 12. My first high powered rifles.

Well, looks like they've decided to move now that the check has cleared
Yep. A while shitload of their brands are being moved to the new Alabama facility - including AAC, Tapco, DPMS, ParaOrdnance, and several others. Everyone is getting offered severance packages, and told they can apply for their jobs again in Alabama. The moves happen next spring.

Thought I would say my brother took a deer with a .30-.30 last season and it was a Marlin lever action I think.

KITHES!
