http://www.change.org/petitions/tell-target-push-back-the-opening-of-target-retail-stores-on-black-friday-to-5am

Greetings,

I just signed the following petition addressed to: Target Corporation.

----------------
Push back the opening of retail stores on Black Friday to 5am

A midnight opening robs the hourly and in-store salary workers of time off with their families on Thanksgiving Day. By opening the doors at midnight Target is requiring team members to be in the store by 11 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. A full holiday with family is not just for the elite of this nation, all Americans should be able to break bread with loved ones and get a good nights rest on Thanksgiving!
----------------

Sincerely,

[Your name]
Boo fucking hoo hoo. Be glad you have a job. I worked a retail job for years that was open EVERY holiday.

Boo fucking hoo... People who work in grocery usually have to spend all day Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve/Day working constantly for all the fucking dummies who wait until the last minute to pick up food stuff, and it's usually the work days from hell.

Same here. Holiday retail is a pain in the ass, but it is a job. Easter Sunday was a breeze though.

Now overnight inventory, that is something that just sucked balls.

What about all the people who use the "I have to work" excuse to leave Thanksgiving dinner early? Don't take it away!

I don't see what the problem is, more and more stores are open on Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years Day, & Independence Day these days anyway

I get it that this is probably the most stressful day for anyone working in retail, but a lot of people have stressful days, every working day.

I can't remember the last time I had a Thanksgiving or a Christmas off. My usual Christmas tradition is to get a little carton of eggnog to sip while I'm working. Quite your sniveling ditch digger.

No one is forcing them to work shitty retail jobs, this guy needs to just suck it up and fucking deal with it.

i used to always volunteer to work thanksgiving, christmas eve and christmas day when i worked for blockbuster. that way i could take off new years eve and day to get sloppy drunk and recover. those were also the easiest days to work because no one came in the store so my staff and i did nothing. my pakistani store manager didn't like when i'd say that i'm not doing a single project because it's christmas and my god has a bigger dick than his.

Working in the restaurant industry, you expect to work the holidays and I was always cool with that. The only two I would ever have problem working would be Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.

I worked at the same shit beer distributor from fifteen until end of college. Weekends, holidays and nights.

Maybe you should have done more with your life than be a target life loser.

Lol poor people.

No, not the elites, just people with an actual fucking skill who don't have to work at a department store or restaurant.

Fuck this whining cunt.

When I was in the Navy I spent 3 of my Thanksgivings...

-In San Diego three thousand miles away from my family in NY.

-God knows where in the middle of the Pacific ocean.

-The stinking third world Muslim shithole that is Karachi Pakistan.

Whaaa! Sign my petition demanding that all worldwide hostilities cease on Thanksgiving so all US military personnel can go home and break bread with their families!

This. If enlisted men aren't complaining, you have no fucking right to bitch about having to drive .4 miles from your home to stock shelves.

...all Americans should be able to break bread with loved ones and get a good nights rest on Thanksgiving!
Really? All fucking Americans? So send the cops, firefighters, staff at nuclear power plants, 911 dispatchers, etc all home for the entire day? This douche should have been fired on the spot. What would have been more fitting if he's one of the seasonal employees hired solely for the busy season between Thanksgiving and New Years, and he wants those fucking days off.

Target has been the target of some massive union organizing efforts. I'm going to guess that's who is behind this "petition".

Well let's face if Target, K-Mart, and Wal-Mart were to be unionized it would mean hundreds of millions of dollars per year in the hands on the UFCW so the incentive is there

For some reason, they've singled out Target. I guess they gave up trying to beat Wal Mart.

Target goes for a higher-class image, I can see them being bullied through PR to get suckered into unions. Walmart would invite them to fuck the horses they rose in on.

Isn't K-Mart the one that bowed to Michael Moore on the not selling handgun ammo thing?

Every day Walmart proves that they run shit, and quite frankly, that they absolutely should.
