This could be cool if he plays it straight and the players aren't white trash or maniacs.

Rob Zombie will write, direct and produce the hockey drama "Broad Street Bullies" reports Deadline.

The film deals with the Philadelphia Flyers hockey team who evolved from a cellar-dwelling expansion team into one that racked up victories and penalty minutes in equal measure during the 1970s.

The physical play of the team was legendary, enough that when the Soviet Union’s supposedly invincible Red Army team played them, the Soviet team was roughed up so badly they left the ice in the first period (though they were eventually forced to finish the game).

Zombie has scored the rights to the team’s story and has the full support of the organization. He will produce with Andy Gould, Les Borsai and Jeremy Platt.

I can't wait for the decapitation of a ref for making a bad call.

I'm kind of psyched for this. Like others said, if he plays it straight, this sounds like a great story.
