He seems to hate forest Gump. I can't diagree more. I love this movie. I think the problem is some of the goofy history shit that happens. The one that really bugs me is when he wipes his face off with the t shirt and leaves a smily face.

But besides being able to make money, Forest Gumps life is shit. Everyone that he loves has a tragic life, then death . He walks through life as a pariah, foder for everyone that meets him. His defence is stupid sayings that he has used so much to protect himself from their jeers, That at the end of the movie he no longer says them with passion, just as a matter of fact.

1) He has been in love with a woman since he was nine years old. A person who was continually ***** for years. Then when her dad was taken to prison(I guess for life, since we no longer see him again) she is raised as poor white trash. She finally breaks away from the trailer park then runs strait to the nearest strip club. After years of whoring and drug use , she seems to have gotten her life together just to die from aids. This is not a punishment to her, it is a punishment to Forest. He love's her so much his whole life has been themed around her. Now he is in his 40's and must live the rest of his life without her. Before she may show up out of the blue, now she is gone.

I think the problem is that it was not a BAD movie, but it won the academy award over pulp fiction (i believe)

Forrest Gump should have been directed by Hal Needham.
It needed more car chases.

You gotta love a movie that uses AIDS as the plot device to bring about a tragic ending. . . I like Forrest Gump, but I haven't watched it in seems like forever. . . It's too long to suffer through the unfunny to get to the good parts.

Perfect timing that I just watched this again last night. I dunno what Ronnie's problem with it is since I didn't hear his take on the show, but the film's great.

And even though it was already mentioned, the exchange between Forrest and the other student about "coons" trying to get into school is one of the greatest exchanges in the history of movies. Funny every time.

And Shawshank Redemption, Forrest Gump is what is wrong with movies today. Do yourself a favor one night and watch ( If I remember correctly) Shawshank, Pulp Fiction, Nobody's Fool, Quiz Show and finally Gump. Now afterwards if you still think Gump is the best out of the five please don't pro-create. Formlatatic Drivel!

Out of that list Shawshank should have won (though a tough call over Pulp Fiction), but I'd take a thousand Forrest Gumps over half the horseshit that is released in pop cinema today.

It is overrated, but I enjoy it.

I think Ron just hates Tom Hanks. The one Coen brothers movie to feature Hanks is also the one Coen brothers movie Ron doesn't like? The Lady Killers is certainly not my favorite Coen brothers movie, but it's still funny as hell.

Well in the age of remakes that are just horrendous I will probably agree, but not in 94.

Pointing to the brilliant movies that should have won over Forest Gump is one thing. I agree that it didn't deserve the acclaim it got.

That don't make it a bad movie.

I enjoyed The Ladykillers as well, I think we just OD'd on Hanks in the 90's

OUt of the five, I have only seen 3, Shawshank, Pulp, and Gump. I would personally rank them

1: Shawshank
2: Pulp Fiction
3: Gump

Ron is the opposite of Forest Gump.
