It really is scary how big this has become.
...and that they will do anything to crush information being released on how big it actually has become.
Don't buy the $cientology bullshit. They've only got one ship and it's a busted ass, tiny (by modern cruise ship standards) little cruise ship that was built forty years ago. It only carries 360 passengers... compare that to modern cruise ships... like Royal Caribbean's Freedom of the Seas which carries 4,300 passengers.
The current $cientology ship is the Freewinds:
They've owned four ships prior to the Freewinds, but they've all since been scrapped.
The Freewinds is a hunk of crap, and if you ever get invited on board... don't.
During a previous refit/remodel of the ship it was found to be contaminated with crumbling asbestos from stem to stern. To save time and money, the Co$ decided not to remove the asbestos but rather leave it in place and use their special $cientology mind powers to render it harmless.
Fucking nutbags. :icon_roll
scientologists love semen and can never have enough.....
as a side note, it isn't a matter of how popular it is getting it's only a matter of the exposure is is getting now due to the public being more able to gain information from the web and other technology. The reference that people keep pointing to (Nazis) is still a very large and very functional organization. They have just gotten alot better at remaining under the radar.
I've seen the Freewinds in port in the Bahamas. It's a shitheap.
I see we agree on our views on the Co$.
holy S that town was invaded and conquered.
I posted this in the one Tom Cruise thread. It really is frightening.
Although not quite as thoroughly as the $cientologists had envisioned.
I posted about the "Super Power Building" in a previous thread...
The Co$ spent ten years and well upwards of 50 million dollars(and still counting) to construct an abandoned building. Ten years ago the Co$ figured that thousand upon thousands of people would be flocking to Clearwater and The Sooper Dooper Power Building in order that they might be enthusiastically stripped of their cash and sanity. Things didn't quite pan out the way the Co$ planned, and the building sits abandoned... the outside facade has been finished, but the inside remains an empty shell.
-A funny side note...
The Co$ recently purchased two large(and very expensive) construction cranes and had them installed on the site of the Super Power Building. Why, you ask, would they install construction cranes on an abandoned construction project that never required such cranes at any stage of it's construction even when it was being actively worked on?
Simple... because only a pack of lunatics would install unneeded construction cranes at an inactive construction site, and the $cientologists certainly aren't lunatics so therefore the cranes MUST be necessary, and the construction site MUST still be active.
I doubt it ever calls on a US port, judging from the description of the ship it would be impounded within a second by the USCG. If they were so shoddy with the asbestos problems, I can only imagine how many safety or engineering violations there are. Also, who crews this ship? Deck and Engineering officers need to be licensed. They must have some foreign license with minimal qualifications.
When I graduated college with my USCG 3rd Mates license, I had the opportunity, by just submitting a photocopy of my 3rd Mates license, to get a Vanuata issued license. Back in 1992 they were working to become a leading "Flag of Convenience" nation for foreign ship owners.
These kinds of ship operators are scary.
The Co$ tried for awhile to operate the ship with church members, but it was a debacle... the handful of cult loonies they did manage to get properly credentialed to operate the ship still could barely manage to maneuver the ship away from the pier and navigate it out of sight of land. They finally gave up and now they contract with a private company to operate the deck and engineering.
And all the ships at sea can breathe a big sigh of relief.
Brings back memories of maneuvering around ships, obviously without a single watch stander on the bridge knowledgeable enough to obey and react to the rules of the road.
Well this sort of fits the topic.
How could Tom Cruise spend time on this shitheap. I'd say scuttle the thing but Davey Jones would send the fucker back.
