I'll get right to the point. I have either the flu or the worst cold I've ever fucking had. I'm treating the symptoms with Vicks 44 and Ibuprofen and loading up on zinc and vitamin c, but my lungs. Ow. I can't take a complete breath and the more I try to catch my breath the more it hurts. I've tried using my asthma inhaler but it does nothnig. Any advice, suggestions? I'm dyin' here.

One of my kids had similar symptoms a couple of months back. Wound up in the ER at 3:00 am. Doctor said one of the best things for temporary relief was to breath in cold air. Then he prescribed drugs to fight off the infection.

Cold air isn't hard to find during winter in South Dakota - probably not so in Houston.

Try sucking in air from your freezer for a minute or two. And go to the doctor.

I just took a long, hot shower and it helped some, but I can already feel it getting worse again. There's no way I can drive like this. I'll wait til the roommate gets home (she's a nurse) and see what she thinks.

Walk it off deek!

Just playing with ya. But seriously, plurisy (spl), fluid between the lining of the lungs and organ walls, can mutate into broncitis (spl), and then eventually into pneumonia. Goto the doctors and get your self a dose of Amoxicillin call off work and veg out for a few days. But goto the doc. My brother's oldest kid came back from 1st grade class sick one day, passed to his little borther which was a little worse, then passed it onto my bro and it wiped him out for a couple of weeks.

Good luck bro.

I hate to say it, but I also think it's pneumonia. I had it when I was a teenager and the symptoms sound very similar. Go to the doctor ASAP. Pneumonia ain't nothin' to fuck wit.

Yeah, I take like 3 hot as hell 30 minute showers a day when I get hit with these sinus infection things.

That's one thing I seriously miss about San Diego. I'd get sick, I'd drive into Tijuana and buy some anti-biotics for like $20 a bottle and I'd be fine in a few days. Here? With no health insurance? Fuck that... I'll take hot showers, drink hot tea with whiskey and honey, and save a couple hundred on a Care Now or whatever.

I know what's wrong with me, I know what I need to fix it, I don't need to pay some ass hole a couple hundred to look at me for 30 seconds to tell me what I already know then pay 10X mark up for some penicillin with a different, catchier name.

I want to take all doctors and insurance guys... Malpractice, automobile, and health insurance, and drown them all in a $100 barrel of crude oil. Fuck them all

Yeah lung pain isnt fun...if you were just sick and feeling shitty Id say just deal with it, but if you cant breathe, then you probably need meds.

My brother had similiar thing, ended up having Pleurisy

could be pneumonia, could be bronchitis, could be a really bad cold...you're using an inhaler so I'm guessing you have asthma? No offense but, why are you posting here instead of just taking yourself to the doctor or emergency room?

If she is hot maybe she can give you an enema.

That always works for me

Hey, hey, hey there, Mr. Man. Don't be blaming doctors for the fucked up state of healthcare in the U.S... follow the money. The CEO's of HMO's are making re-godamn-diculous salaries...

http://healthcare-economist.com/2006/02/14/united-health-ceo-earned-1248-million-in-2005/

William McGuire of UnitedHealth Group, the nation’s leading insurer, was the third-highest paid CEO on the Forbes list. His pay of $124.8 million could cover the average health insurance premiums of nearly 34,000 people…
The Med-Mal lawyers are taking their ridiculous 20-40% cuts from ever more preposterous jury awards...

Baby's brain damage leads to record jury judgment

Middlesex County jury awards $40 million
Meanwhile... doctors salaries have been steadily decreasing for the last ten years.

You want to know who to point the finger at? Follow the money... trust me, it won't lead you to a doctor's pocket.

Ahhh, the ol' nebulizer. It's been about 15 years, but nothing works quite like it.

The official prognosis was asthma triggered by a viral infection. One of these upper resperatory things you might pick up, oh, say, making out with a strange girl at a New Year's Eve party. I'm on a ton of medicine, though, so I feel way better. Thanks again for telling me to stop screwing around and get to the ER, everyone. I'm a boob.
