Making small talk with your pot dealer sucks. Buying cocaine can get you shot. What if you could buy and sell drugs online like books or light bulbs? Now you can: Welcome to Silk Road.

About three weeks ago, the U.S. Postal Service delivered an ordinary envelope to Mark's door. Inside was a tiny plastic bag containing 10 tabs of LSD. "If you had opened it, unless you were looking for it, you wouldn't have even noticed," Mark told us in a phone interview.

Mark, a software developer, had ordered the 100 micrograms of acid through a listing on the online marketplace Silk Road. He found a seller with lots of good feedback who seemed to know what they were talking about, added the acid to his digital shopping cart and hit "check out." He entered his address and paid the seller 50 Bitcoins—untraceable digital currency—worth around $150. Four days later the drugs, sent from Canada, arrived at his house.

"It kind of felt like I was in the future," Mark said.

That website is part of the internet underworld. I'm really surprised it still exists.

I went to the website after it showed of gawker. But since I don't do drugs, or drink I didn't bother going there after that. I try to avoid sites that require tor to access.

Anyone have any bitcoins to trade?

There is a seedy underbelly of the net but digging around it is just asking for trouble.

I wouldnt even do that without TOR and hiding behind a handful of proxies, just because. Im interested in what is going on in the dark web but not that interested.

Yeah, I don't even know what that means. After a few minutes of reading, it's more of a hassle than I'm willing to tackle.

And what is going on here? Hmmmmm?
I'm just looking for some medication for my sick grandma. She's on a fixed income and her insurance won't cover it. She's very ill.

I can't vouch for these other degenerates though. You should probably take 'em all downtown.

I've been pretty bored with the net lately. Really thinking about venturing into the deep web, for uh.... research purposes.

Bitcoin is a scam, but you can use the currency as long as it's in small doses and you don't treat it as an investment.

even with the creator whoring it, it seems like a bad idea.

"Only 21 milllion bitcoins will ever be in existence" how is that policable when you can "mine for bitcoins" on your computer? It seems it would be very easy to create 'inflation' or counterfeit bitcoins with a virus or toolkit of some sort.

I refuse to form an opinion on this until Kirk chimes in.

Once he does, I'm 76% sure my opinion will be the exact opposite of whatever his is.

Oh, and this bitcoin seems like a stupid idea. It seemed kinda neat, but that youtube video made me think it is all a sham/ quick money grab by the creator.

The only people making money off bitcoins are the people building computers with 6 videos cards in them to "mine" the fake money.

What would 6 video cards do to help mine coins?

Ok,

so I have done some reading on bitcoins and bitcoin mining.

From what I have been able to gather looking at over 20 websites and articles on the subject, is that it is a giant crock of shit.
