SimCity uses the new GlassBox engine. "We try to build what you would expect to see, and that's the game," explains system architect Andrew Willmott, meaning that visual effects such as traffic, economic troubles, and pollution will be more obvious. Two other new features are a multiplayer component and finite resources.
SimCity will require players to be logged into EA's Origin service to play the game, including when playing single player. An active internet connection will be required every time the game is launched and must be maintained throughout gameplay.
I was looking forward to this game until I heard about the need for an internet connection and the game becoming unplayable when EA decides to shut down the servers. If they are trying to stop piracy, this is doing the exact opposite. Who would want the non pirated version that makes you log into servers?
That being said, I may break down at some time in the future and buy the game when its 15$, if the servers are still running.
After watching the IGN vids I kind of get what's happening, multiple regions kind of connecting together into one large city. But still, the fact that you must be online to play singleplay is fucking retarded.
