SimCity uses the new GlassBox engine. "We try to build what you would expect to see, and that's the game," explains system architect Andrew Willmott, meaning that visual effects such as traffic, economic troubles, and pollution will be more obvious. Two other new features are a multiplayer component and finite resources.

SimCity will require players to be logged into EA's Origin service to play the game, including when playing single player. An active internet connection will be required every time the game is launched and must be maintained throughout gameplay.

No thanks. I like having games like SimCity for times I don't have an internet connection (or don't want to pay for some dumb public hot spot). Mandatory login for a single player game? Fuck you EA.

I fucking hate this new trend in games where you MUST have internet to play them. If I buy the rights to play, I should be able to play whenever and wherever I please.

Well I hope you are done playing video games other than solitaire because that is the way of the future for games. Well, you could always hook up a NES and get your Duck Hunt on.

Steam doesn't require a long in. I can play offline. Indications from the PS4 launch seemed to show Sony wasn't going there either.

I said the future. The PS4 looks like it is going to need gamertag verification to play games, that requires the internet.

I was looking forward to this game until I heard about the need for an internet connection and the game becoming unplayable when EA decides to shut down the servers. If they are trying to stop piracy, this is doing the exact opposite. Who would want the non pirated version that makes you log into servers?

That being said, I may break down at some time in the future and buy the game when its 15$, if the servers are still running.

I hear the cities are too small, to the point of being just little towns. Too casual and such. I'll stick with SimCity 2000

Launch appears to be a disaster so far. People have had to wait in line to get onto the server to play their single player game.

Good, and if the new Xbox has the same requirement I hope Microsoft loses millions on it.

Yeah it isn't that good. Because of the small size people finish cities quickly and the game is more region/team focused. Essentially they turned SimCity into one of those Facebook resource games.

The casual half of Maxis needs to be shot. They ruined Spore, too.

What a total fail. I'm so pissed. How do even fuck up a simcity game this bad? Just wow.

I am getting the game in the mail. I'll wait a week until they fix all of the fuck ups.

Fuck EA in their fuckholes. Whenever I get around to picking up Mass Effect 3 that will be the last thing I buy associated with the company. They ruin everything.

This is a shame... I was looking forward to this release... I could care less about the internet part... Many games are already doing this, and more will in the future...

But looking online, there isn't 1 good review... I think I will wait a month or 2, and see if it gets any better before picking it up. Maybe the price will go down as well.

From what I read the game is good, it's just cunt EA fucked up with the servers and the launch.

I got the game about an hour ago. It's installing updates already.

After watching the IGN vids I kind of get what's happening, multiple regions kind of connecting together into one large city. But still, the fact that you must be online to play singleplay is fucking retarded.

Okay, I can't connect to any of the servers in the US. I'll wait til tomorrow to attempt to play the game.
