North Lebanon Township police Tuesday released this composite sketch of the still-unidentified victim who was fatally struck by a train Monday night.

A male who was struck by a train behind the Lebanon Valley Mall Monday night and later died of his injuries still had not been identified Tuesday morning.
The victim was alone when he was struck by an eastbound freight Norfolk Southern train about 8 p.m. above the North 25th Street tunnel in North Lebanon Township, according to a witness.
Rescue crews, township police and Norfolk Southern officials remained at the scene late Monday night.
A news release from North Lebanon Township distributed shortly before 5 a.m. Tuesday described the victim as "a white male, with blue/hazel eyes, thin build, fair complexion, short brown hair and a goatee. He was wearing white sneakers, khaki shorts, a green zip-up shirt/jacket and a Phillies

cap." The victim was treated at the scene and taken by First Aid and Safety Patrol EMS to Good Samaritan Hospital, where he later died.
Police asked that anyone with information on the victim's identity call them at 717-273-8141 or Lebanon County Communications at 717-272-2054.
Fire police blocked off 25th Street between Church Street and the rear of the Lebanon Valley Mall while the incident was investigated. Train traffic was stopped in both directions for several hours afterward.
Area resident Terriee Horan said her 20-year-old son, Fred, saw the incident, and he told her the victim intentionally lay down along the tracks as the train was approaching.
"He's totally devastated," Horan said of her son.
She said her son called her and told her he had just seen someone he identified as a teenager being killed by a train.
Michelle Fulk of Lebanon, a former EMT, said she was heading through the tunnel on her way to a convenience store shortly before the incident occurred. On her way back home, she saw a police car at the tunnel, told the officer she was an EMT and asked if she could provide any help.
Fulk said she climbed up the embankment and saw the victim along the railroad tracks. She said the man appeared to be in his 30s.
Fulk said she saw two teenagers in the mall parking lot who had seen the incident. Both appeared visibly shaken, she said.
Duke Laudermilch of West Lebanon Township said he was standing in his backyard along Lehman Street when he heard a train whistle blowing at the 25th Street tunnel. He said he then heard the train's brakes screeching.
"I thought, 'Uh-oh! Somebody got hit,'" Laudermilch recalled.
Laudermilch explained that engineers blow the whistle at the 16th Street crossing but not at the 25th Street tunnel. He said he checked the Emergency Management Agency computer site and saw someone had been hit by a train.
Speedwell and Ebenezer fire companies, fire police and the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Haz-Mat team assisted police.

I'd appreciate it if you'd all treat this tragic passing with the dignity and decorum it deserves. This unidentified man was my chiropractor's piano tuner and sexual surrogate as well as a very dear friend of mine.

Thank you.

we have a small rail yard where I work as we ship product in rail cars. The senior employee (me) is always the switch man instructing the driver via radio. Everytime I switch out rail cars I think "I could lay my neck right there across the rail" or I could put my head between two couplers. I'm not suicidal, but If I was that would be the way.

He was a conscientious man who hated to waste the natural lubricant in his veins and was compelled to donate it onto the tracks.

Police have identified the man who was struck by a train behind the Lebanon Valley Mall Monday night and later died of his injuries.

Brian F. Strauss, 33, Lebanon, was struck by an eastbound freight Norfolk Southern train about 8 p.m. above the North 25th Street tunnel in North Lebanon Township.

Police said there are "no indications of foul play."

Strauss was alone, according to a witness.

He was treated at the scene and taken by First Aid and Safety Patrol EMS to Good Samaritan Hospital, where he later died.

Rescue crews, township police and Norfolk Southern officials remained at the scene until late Monday night.

Fulk said she climbed up the embankment and saw the victim along the railroad tracks. She said the man appeared to be in his 30s.

Fulk said she saw two teenagers in the mall parking lot who had seen the incident. Both appeared visibly shaken, she said.

The asshole picked one of the worst spots to do this. He should have went a mile down the track to the city and blocked traffic there. That area is a nightmare without some idiot committing suicide .
