A survivor of the Son of Sam shootings is auctioning off the Yankees jersey Billy Martin wore when he managed the team during its 1977 World Series victory. Robert Violante says it's not about making money. If he had children, he says, he'd pass the pinstriped jersey on to them, but he doesn't. The online auction at SteinerMarketplace.com is running through Nov. 13. The opening bid is $10,000. It could go for as much as $30,000. Martin gave the jersey to Violante when he heard that he and his date had been shot by David Berkowitz, aka Son of Sam. His date, Stacy Moskowitz, did not survive.
