Fucking clown shoes...where Johnny Sokko's Giant Robot? Where is Ultraman?
Of course, if they were in space anyway and basically flying, what would be the point of having ambulatory limbs like legs and grasping appendages like arms? You're creating weakened areas for attack (joints) and wasting power and resources that could be put toward weapons and armor. It would make more sense to have rectangle shaped box with turrets and weapon racks.
A) It's an anime
B) It's cool
C) Planes are cool
D) Planes that turn into robots are cool
E) Having thrust points further away from the center of gravity increases maneuverability
F) Appendages make life better
G) They were designed primarily for atmospheric combat
H) It's an anime
Not to mention that spheres are more practical than rectangle shaped boxes.
Just cover up those pesky exhaust ports.
John Ringo's Troy Universe says hi.
If you want to catch up
Robotech: The Complete Set $35
85 episodes plus two movies.
Don't give money to Harmony Gold.
What is a "Harmony Gold?"
I tried that. It's an oil refinery company in South Africa.
I'm sorry to hear that using Google is giving you difficulties.
Okay, found it.
So you want people to not buy the series from the only people you can buy the series from?
I read the wiki. I didn't see anything horrendous. It did remind me that I lost my very old Battletech source book. Which is upsetting.
It's a very complicated story, especially with the complexities of foreign anime licensing, but they've been basically cockblocking any Macross related material from being imported to the US. Games, new series, glorious blu-ray releases of the movies, etc. Even though they don't really own the rights to much of the content they just file lawsuits and no one has stood up to them.
They've been sitting on these licenses for years, and all they've done is release horrible original works, prevent the release of good works, and had the gall to go on Kickstarter and try and get people to fund the pilot of what would've been another horrible original series.
They're the patent trolls of the anime world.
James Wan to Direct Aquaman and Robotech Movies
Spanning space and sea.
By Alex OsbornJames Wan, the director behind the incredibly successful Furious 7, has struck a deal with Warner Bros. Pictures to direct Aquaman.
However, that's not the only film that's been added to Wan's plate, as, according to The Hollywood Reporter, he also locked down a deal with Sony Pictures Entertainment to direct the hit 1980s mecha anime, Robotech. (Wan is also still directing The Conjuring 2 for Warners.)
With regard to the upcoming DC Comics' superhero film, Warner Bros. boss Greg Silverman said: "The Aquaman film will be a major tentpole picture for us and James’s span of work has proven him able to take on any manner of project, bringing his incredible creative talent and unique voice to the material."
This sea-centric superhero flick is just one of many DC Comics movies currently in the works, with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice scheduled for release in 2016 and Wonder Woman hitting theaters the year after.
Aquaman is set for release in 2018, with Deborah Snyder and Zack Snyder producing. Jason Momoa is staring as the movie's water-dwelling protagonist, whose recent actions may have reignited the DC-Marvel comic war.
I reckon those box sets are going to increase dramatically in price now.
I managed to snag a cheap one before the price doubled.
Or cybersquatters. Really, I hate DeBeers less than I hate these fuckers. While I do NOT want them to profit in ANY fashion, it would be kinder if someone put us out of this misery by a major studio buying them, dissolving them, and then develop the film franchise.
Of course, that's what HG would love. If it happens, I hope as many of the original HG folks and their families are dead by then.
