I'm lost.

What/Where?

Who?
Ok you know the guys who did Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz. well they used to have a Skit comedy show in England. And now maybe we will get Spaced on dvd here for the first time. cause they fucked up Such British remakes as All in the Family , Three's Company, the Roepers just kidding about the last two but who cares.

I don't really know Spaced but lately I've been on a British series kick thanks to Netflix (Black Adder, now I'm Knowing Alan Partridge) so I'll add it to my queue (adding it to Red Dwarf and Little Britian).

How come the British are better than us?

My negative outlook on this is due to the more recent disappointment of The Office. All in the Family can hardly be used as a positive example since it was so long ago. The people in charge of networks now were in high school when All in the Family was pumping out greatness.

Spaced was funnier than Shaun Of The Dead and Hot Fuzz combined, they should just leave it alone. They will definitely ruin this. I can already predict with confidence that they cast some talentless bimbo in the role of Daisy.

If you've never seen this show, do it before Fox blasphemizes it. If your a pop culture geek you will love it.

You can also order the import dvds from amazon. They are region 2 so you just have to know whether or not your dvd player can play PAL discs.

There is another torrent there that is avi format as well, the other is mp4 i believe.

But that costs money!

Godmanit, they fucked up big time with "The Office", now I bet they'll fuck this up to.
Spaced, The Office, Green Wing, and Blackadder are my favorite British comedies.

They used to be on Tv-Links, but that site has been down for the past few weeks.

This will for sure suck. Especially considering they havent even talked to Edgar or Simon about it.

The interesting part of that is, no-one has been in touch with me at all. Haven't deigned to get in contact. So my involvement is indeed very unclear.

P.S. I can confirm too, that Simon was never contacted either. I don't really want to get involved at all, but it infuriates me that they would a) never bother to get in touch but still b) splash me and Simon's names all over the trade announcements and infer that we're involved in the same way Ricky & Steve were with The Office.

Also, it's worth stressing that I will not be profiting from this reversion, nor do they have to get permission from me to make it.

One more thing...

I'm calling for everyone to refer to the U.S. version of Spaced as "McSpaced" from now on.

I can't think of a better distillation of the whole idea.

The first Edgar Wright heard about it was when he read it in Variety.

That's right. The producers didn't bother to let the creator of the orginal know they were remaking it. That should tell you all you need to know right there.

Love me some Black Adder, even season 1. I think S2 was my favorite (Queen Elizabeth was so hot) though he S4 finale was utter genius. It's also fun to see Hugh Laurie so young and so funny (in a different way than he is on House).

I like the American Office. It has its problems but I don't think it's the utter pissing on the British version people try to make it out to be. I also like how well they expanded the supporting cast.

Spaced- I'm definitely going to check it out but it sucks that they ignored the SOTD guys. This is probably going to be Coupling over again.

I know it's been a few months but I finally got around to seeing Spaced and I didn't like it. No, I LOVVVVVVVVVVVVVED it. I laughed so goddamned hard at the show. It was masterful at the punchlines you never see coming. Highly recommend it.

Another British show I'm going to throw out to you guys- Absolute Power. Stephen Fry runs a PR firm. Some references skew a bit too British but overall it was really damned funny.

Two reasons.

One, they're not afraid to put real intelligence into their humor.

Look at Black Adder. It was smart humor, but also mixed with completely base humor as well (a thingy shaped turnip?)

Two, they're not as uptight about censorship over there as over here.

Yeah, I know you can be funny without cursing or whatever, but can you imagine The Office without "Black Man's Cock?" Again, it's that combination of not patronizing your audience, presenting intelligent humor, and mixing it with crudeness all at the same time.

I've been watching The Graham Norton Show on BBC America. It's one of the most innovative, original talk shows I've ever seen. He's bringing real innovation to the talk show format, and he's funny as hell.

Is that why they censored a Fucking Headbutt in Star Wars Episode 2, for fear kids on the play ground would emulate that or the fact they banned The Evil Dead for fucking years. It aint all sunshine and rainbows with censorship over there just cause they can say Cunt after 10 o'clock.

That's the weird thing about the US and the UK . . . over here, we can't show nudity or say dirty words, but we can shoot people through the eye. Over there, you can't show thuggish behavior, but you can say fuck every other sentence and have softcore porn after 9:00.

I mostly meant the quality of British comedy and was using a bit of the ol' exaggeration. I didn't intend for this thread to end up turning into "And every British man has to get on his knees and suck Muslim cock! It's a law! I read it on World News Daily!"
