Spitzer Is Linked to Prostitution Ring

ALBANY - Gov. Eliot Spitzer has informed his most senior administration officials that he had been involved in a prostitution ring, an administration official said this morning.

Governor Eliot Spitzer at a news conference in July 2007.

Mr. Spitzer, who was huddled with his top aides early this afternoon, had hours earlier abruptly canceled his scheduled public events for the day. He is set to make an announcement about 2:15 this afternoon at his Manhattan office.

Mr. Spitzer, a first-term Democrat who pledged to bring ethics reform and end the often seamy ways of Albany, is married with three children.

Just last week, federal prosecutors arrested four people in connection with an expensive prostitution operation. Administration officials would not say that this was the ring with which the governor had become involved.

He had a difficult first year in office, rocked by a mix of scandal and legislative setbacks. In recent weeks, however, Mr. Spitzer seemed to have rebounded, with his Democratic party poised to perhaps gain control of the state Senate for the first time in four decades.

Mr. Spitzer gained national attention when he served as attorney general with his relentless pursuit of Wall Street wrongdoing. As attorney general, he also had prosecuted at least two prostitution rings as head of the state’s organized crime task force.

In one such case in 2004, Mr. Spitzer spoke with revulsion and anger after announcing the arrest of 16 people for operating a high-end prostitution ring out of Staten Island.

“”This was a sophisticated and lucrative operation with a multitiered management structure,” Mr. Spitzer said at the time. ”It was, however, nothing more than a prostitution ring.”

Albany for months has been roiled by bitter fighting and accusations of dirty tricks. The Albany County district attorney is set to issue in the coming days the results of his investigation into Mr. Spitzer’s first scandal, his aides’ involvement in an effort to tarnish Majority Leader Joseph L. Bruno, the state’s top Republican.

And it's on Drudge:

I've got one thing to say:

:haha7:

Apparently, he's "Client #9" at The Emperor's Club which is the name of the prostitution ring.

I can only hope that "Client #9's" proclivities involved being dominated by non-convincing transvestites (picture Lawrence Taylor in a dress), tinkled on, pooped on, and force-fed his own spunk

but lets not rush to convict him until all information is out there

Spitzer is a Huey Long wanna-be.

Shake down the "bad guys". The "bad guys" being shady characters who refuse to pay him protection money.

My first thought was 'What a maroon.' My second thought was of Anthony's "I GOTTA SEE THOSE TITS!" bit. My third thought is maybe Opie will be able to get some concert tickets again.

Recall election isn't possible for such a thing, but I'm sure he'll be resigning in a publicly humiliating, tear-stained press conference, with his wife at his side. If we're lucky, he'll also bring the R Budd Dwyer memorial lunchbag, but I'm guessing he's too arrogant to off himself.

Wow, I'd be shocked if he resigned. Nowadays it's all about keeping the power you have. Larry "Wide Stance" Craig won't even fucking resign, so I doubt Spitz will.

But honest assessment from you NY types: will this be the end of his career? If he keeps on through the rest of his term (however long that is), will get get reelected if he runs again? I'd think something like this would ordinarily be a serious blow, but then again, this is fucking New York. You guys aren't quite as bad as New Jersey is with that yellow-dog liberalism, but it's pretty damn ingrained in you nonetheless.

E.D. Hill just announced on Fox News just said he's expected to resign. Apparently someone was talking into her earpiece and gave her that information. She interrupted the current guest they have on the phone.

And then he'll go to rehab ... because that's where all disgraced politicians go after an admission such as this

Fox News just reported they have two sources that stated that he has also been indicted due to the investigation into this matter. So, that explains the quick resignation.

Apparently he was indicted on February 7th but the indictment was sealed.

Honestly? Prior to this his "approval rating" was almost as low as Bush's. If an election were held yesterday, I don't think he'd be reelected.

Apparently they got him dead to rights because of phone calls and text messages to/from the prostitution ring.

I'm from D.C. so I was not aware of these things.

So he's definitely resigned, huh? Hot damn. What happens next, a special runoff election in the fall? Or will the Lt. Gov. just fill in the rest of his term?

Lt Governor will more than likely complete the rest of his term.

EDIT: He was born legally blind and he's a nagger
