I realized we don't have a thread for Episode 9.
Anyway, we were discussing this in the HitW thread, but probably better if we keep it in a thread that won't fall by the wayside in a month.
Keri Russell of Felicity and The Americans is cast in Star Wars, Episode 9 in, you guessed it, some mysterious role that we'll ponder about for over a year only for it to be a pointless thirty second cameo.
So let's ponder what her pointless thirty second cameo will be. (Though I will say it's nice to see Star Wars branching out with their casting of female characters with the hiring of a pale white brunette.) My initial thought is that she will be Rey's mother possibly in a flashback sequence (though she might show up later). I think they will try to split the difference between Rey being 'chosen' and Rey being a nobody. She will be the daughter of two Forcers (Russell and someone else whom we never heard of before or maybe they're in stupid books) who have been hiding out pretending to be drunk junk merchants to allay suspicion, but Snoke detects Rey's powers and wants her for his own. That's why they send her off. She's chosen (Jedi --> Jedi) but also a nobody (not legacy Jedi).
That or she's Luke's illegitimate daughter, but I don't think that will happen, nor will I think that would fly with the audience.
The strange thing about episode 9 is it feels like there's a lot still open yet it also feels like none of it is particularly relevant.
Now commence your hissy fits about SJWs.
