Well suckers. As much as I have little faith in the ankleless qb. The backup, Orton... with his pedophile chin and mustache, and in the pacifist Lovie Smith...who shames the tradition of Beardom by being a moral highgrounder, afraid of crushing the opposition by another 40 points going into the 2nd half...

This year, they should be a bit more formidable with the additions of new DT's TE's and CB's, the resigning of Lance Briggs, and several other key players. You all know who they are, and if not, will know pretty soon I'm sure.

Not to mention Hester on offense is pretty sick. And every sucker who reads this KNOWS you'd want him on your team, too.

Say what you want about him needing a decent qb to get the ball to him in the first place, but that motherfucker can run z-reverses all day with a pretty high success ratio. And probably will have to.

I still hope they go 6-10 and farve drops 500 yd's on them in one quarter. :p
But I also have... some shred of hope, somewhere, that they can bring it on home finally... so I can be proud of 'em again. After fucking 20 years.

Tough 1st game with traveling to San Diego. Apparently Orton looks way better than Griese in camp and may end up the #2 qb. Looking forward to posting nice things in here as most my rage is saved for my Cubs thread.

bears fan from nj. Grossman will silence the critics

Only if he kills them all. :icon_mrgr

What is it up to now, something like the last 7 Super Bowl losers have missed the playoffs the following year? Maybe Rex can turn it around and break the streak.....

There was a streak of like 5 or so, but the Seahawks broke it up by making the playoffs and losing to the Bears last year.

I've got a 200 dollar bet with 5-1 odds that the Bears won't win the division.

Why don't you win a few games for once in your life Lions.
And Favre, win a few games too.

What if Sexy Rexy breaks an ankle, or Urlacher has a stroke?
What if Benson goes down and they have to rely on the "Other" Adrian Peterson?

I'll take 5-1 odds hoping one of those things could happen and maybe Martz can get some big time offense going in Detriot.

Follow up for a win this year. All the way.

Besides, I don't want to be told I was crying during a drunk call to my dad ever again.

Isn't there some sort of trend also where one of superbowl teams from the previous year doesn't even make the playoffs?
I think Seattle finally ended like a 6 year streak.
I can't remember back right now, but the Colts are in the playoffs already.
So that leaves only on other superbowl team to not make the playoffs.

I found it

05 Seattle 13-3...to 9-7**
04 Eagles 13-3...to 6-10
03 Panthers 11-5...to 7-9
02 Raiders 11-5...to 4-12
01 St Louis Rams 14-2...to 7-9
00 NY Giants 12-4...to 7-9

I wouldn't mind a little 4-12

Here is a link to wikipedias Super Bowl™ XLI : Game Summary page.

----

There is an interestiing compilation of Super Bowl™ "firsts" on wikipedia too.

Super Bowl XLI saw a number of firsts:

  1. First Super Bowl presided over by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, who succeeded Paul Tagliabue in September 2006.
  2. First Super Bowl to have a touchdown run in on the opening kickoff (Devin Hester, Bears). It was the eighth kick return for a touchdown in a Super Bowl. Only two of the eight teams who did this went on to win the game (the Green Bay Packers in Super Bowl XXXI and the Baltimore Ravens in Super Bowl XXXV.
  3. Hester's score 14 seconds into the game was the quickest in a Super Bowl breaking the New England Patriots' record of 1 minute, 19 seconds which they set in Super Bowl XX.
  4. First Super Bowl with a team coached by an African American. In fact, both coaches - Tony Dungy (Colts) and Lovie Smith (Bears) - are African American; Dungy became the first African American head coach to win a Super Bowl and Smith the first African American head coach to get to a Super Bowl. Smith became the first African American head coach in the Super Bowl by scheduling chance: the NFC Championship game was played before the AFC Championship game. (Both coaches are close friends, and are considered the class of the league.)
  5. First Super Bowl to be played in the rain.
  6. First time a team won a Super Bowl after finishing the regular season ranked last in the NFL in rushing yards allowed. Indianapolis was also the first team to win the Super Bowl after having a sub-.500 record in December (2-3).
  7. First brothers to officiate together in a Super Bowl (Carl and Perry Paganelli).
  8. First major professional sports championship won by any team from the state of Indiana (Outside of the ABA Championship).
  9. The Colts were the first dome team to win the Super Bowl in an outdoor game. (The St. Louis Rams were the first dome team to win a Super Bowl (XXXIV).
  10. The 2006 Indianapolis Colts were the first division champion to win a Super Bowl with four postseason wins and the second division champion (2003 Carolina Panthers) to win a conference title with three postseason wins.

Thats pretty much it..., how the whole thing worked out for the Chicago Bears.

Oh you again. Unless you are a Colts fan and you're not you have nothing to say about the Super Bowl because your team wasn't in it. So as I am sure I told you more than once last season: GO FUCK YOURSELF and feel free to start a Packers thread.

Do you realize that 1/2 of being a fan is to disrespect division rivals? Not just any division rivalry, the oldest one in the NFL. And not only is it a fooytball war, there is a border war there too. I don't give a fuck what someone from NJ, or NV says. Whatever happened to good old fashioned ribbing?

Relax fella's. It's just a jab at your team, not you as a fan.

I know my Packers suck, Favre has no-one to throw the goddamn ball to. And what did we do in the off season? Not a fuckin thing. It's gonna be a rough season.

Had front row seats to the Bears/Texans game last week. I was right behind the Bears bench. Grossman was really cool and came over to say hi.

As for the trash talking, whatever. Perhaps we can just pick on the Saints since their city really is a shit hole.

I'm just glad football is here! It means cooler weather is around the corner.

Miss soundboard OBB....

Good to see some things never change.

Just tuned in to MNF and the first play I see went as such.... Rex drops back, Rex looks confused, Rex drops the ball. Next posession.... Rex drops back, Rex looks confused, Rex tries to throw ball where no ball should go, interception. Next posession....Rex drops snap on 2nd down losing 2 yards. The announcer actually said "Rex seems to be pulling out a little early," and then he started chuckling.

Grossman fucking sucks. I would rather have Marcus Vick at this point.

You're welcome :D

Houston was a shithole before the NOLA murder squad arrived, but the imports are just the fucking icing on the cake!

Can we just pick on Dallas now?

Geaux Tigers!

The commentators are making fools of themselves. They just suck on Peyton's dick while the Bears are having a pretty good game.

I like looking at google images "Rex Grossman Sucks" results. Hopefully what the Pack end up doing to the Bears.

Rexy just too Sexy.

He didn't look That bad tonight, 9-11 a few fucks ups.
Griese actually looks good.
Orton, well he still looks like a kid rapist.

I didn't know the Bears got rid of Justin Gage, not that he was good, but I saw him for 4 years at Mizzou.
