I like the American version, but it's not the same format of the English one. In the first season, didn't they attempt the "star in the small car" timed lap thing a couple of times? Now they are just on location in 3 different cars every week.

The American version is challenges only. It's not as good as the UK version, but is still a good, fun show.

Tonight:
James swallows three gallons of seawater
Hammond squees over a car slightly larger than himself
And Jeremy pretends a red car is blue.

Warwick Davies making fun of Hammond for being short = brilliant.

It's now available for download on the Internets from illicit sources, or you can watch it on BBC America next week.

The super-secret highly-illegal feed is up.

Seriously, has anyone heard of the BBC ever cracking down on anyone?

I've heard of movies, HBO, the UFC, etc., doing whatever to protect their copyright, but I've never heard of the Beebs doing anything about the millions upon millions of Top Gear and Doctor Who illegal d/ls.

The Top Gear folks have said that the international downloading has helped build their brand and popularity.

It's just that we were on the other side of the Atlantic, and they are too busy counting antennas and getting the brits to cough of their TV dues. Now that they have their own channel here, I'm betting there will be pirating crackdowns in the future.

That Ferrari is gorgeous.
Is it just me, or are the races starting to look more and more staged lately?
The BBC headquarters race sucked, but the cab race looked over the top on purpose. They were going for comedy, and it kinda worked.

I didn't like the BBC thing either. I know a lot of their stuff is staged or semi-staged, but that one was very noticeable with them jumping through fake glass and shit.

I need a little help. Buddy of mine raves about this show. I've tried twice now to get into it, but can't. Is there a definitive episode to reel me in, or am I totally missing it?

Think you gotta be into that pseudo-confidence comedy. I've watched about 10 episodes, good but don't get off on it like topgear fans do.

Try the Polar Special. If you're not into TGUK after that, it's just not for you. No shame in that.
